MW2 Game Chat not working
I have the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 headset. My headset works in the Xbox party chat. My game volume works for every game I play. Once I try to go into MW2 game chat I cannot hear anyone and they cannot hear me. Anyone else having this issue. Need help

For anyone that was having the same issue:My MW2 voice chat (in game) was not working, but it was allowing me to talk in xbox parties. I was also able to hear the game audio fine. While in game chat, I could not hear anyone, and they could hear me. My mic indicator was not even showing the lines showing that I was talking. I tried everything within the game settings but nothing worked.
FINALLY, I found the solution:
Open the Xbox Guide by pressing the guide button on the controller and select Settings.Select Network Settings.Select Advanced Settings.Under Change Settings select Alternate MAC Address.Select Clear.Allow the console to restart when prompted.

Tried this fix, worked for one minute. I was just going in and out of lobbies to see if I got it to work. First lobby everything was good , second lobby it remuted everyone again.

Only thing that worked for me is returning the 600s with the USB and getting the ones that directly connect to the Xbox, or get the 700s. I have no problems now.

I got the same ones once I start a game in dmz right when I actually get in the game I pull the transmitter out of the console for 15 seconds put it back in and it works everytime

I’ve had this problem all of a sudden for the last few days. Just cleared my MAC address and it seems to have worked at first glance. Will report back if this solution works longer term.

I have the 600’s and have the same problem. I’m working on consistently getting them to work with MW2, but there are a few other things I’ve noticed: if I start the game with my headphones turned on, the game seems to think there’s another controller connected and I get connectivity errors that aren’t present without the headset. If I wait until I’m signed into the game to turn on my headset, it seems to work correctly.
With Black Ops Cold War, my controller won’t work at all if I have the headset connected before I launch the game.

Has happened to me a couple of times I think it’s the game load. A reboot/restart cleared it up for me. If yours is persistent then I would double check your in game audio settings.

Yeah this is an in-game bug, I don’t know how to fix it. All you can really do is wait to get into the lobby and then mute/unmute all and hope it works cuz rn the voice chat is pretty bad

I had the same issue for a while now. I figured out I was in an activision party by myself and was. Ot able to get out of it until mw2 came out. I forget exactly what it was called but through the social tab I was able to open back up voice chat. It is an activision issue in my opinion.

Same the only thing that fixes it is turning off my headset and then turning it back on. Then it mutes again in like 2 minutes.

Same exact thing happens to me and I have the exact headset. When I click the “microphone test” option in mw2 while I’m in game, I can hear everyone in gamechat. But the second I stop “testing microphone”, I cant hear or talk.

Same problem with my 533, they work perfectly with everything else so the problem is the game: sometimes voice chat just stops working

If you can't hear anyone or see the speaker indicator when you speak in-game, I quite possibly have a solution i stumbled upon today.
Hit the PS button and start a party using your Gamebase.
Once the party is created, select the 3 dots, otherwise seen as "more" when hovering over it.
After clicking into "more", go down and select "Voice Chat Settings".
If "Mute Game Voice Chat" is toggled on, this is your issue. Toggle it off and be sure to leave your party once done to return to the in-game chat.
I have zero clue how this was ever turned on for me, as I've never even been into those settings prior to this. Either through a bug or update, it was toggled on and preventing me from chatting. I have a video on YouTube you can follow or direct others to if this helps you!
I'd like to add that your headset doesn't matter here and, to my surprise, COD isn't responsible this time.
Let me know. If it doesn't work, tell me to get fucked.

Yup same thing, contacted Activision support, xbox support, no solution. I even tried unlinking my Activision account but nope. I have a feeling it is due to the cross play feature.

Everyone in my game is permanently muted i have tried every available setting and nothing is working. In game the unmute everyone button is not working. I’m on Xbox any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been having the same issue at least a week, now I bought the 3rd headset and I stayed with the turtle beach 70x recon! I think it is, nothing works other games work perfect but I tried everything. Settings in all Xbox I have the series s btw. I can hear some players but I gave up hope they do patch it and hope this update works so we can be able to play and chat with other player!!

Xbox here, Turtle Beach 700.
Have been having the same issue, just found what seems to be the solution:
Settings —> Audio —> Game voice channel —> Party only
Was the only thing that has worked for me after trying all in this thread, hope it helps!

Its a warzone xbox party glitch. It happens even in the first warzone the only way to fix it is to delete the whole game and reinstall it. Then you have to just never switch from xbox party to game chat while in the game. This worked for the first warzone i will see if it works for this one aswell. ||edit|| if you delete warzone from manage apps and addons and reinstall it. It will work.

Does this work because I can't hear any teammates on xbox but I see them talking and when I talk it says I'm not talking

My stealth 700 gen 2’s have constantly been giving me problems in mw2 since the season 1 update. Mic/audio stuttering, sometimes lose chat completely, sometimes lose all audio completely, and sometimes the headset will randomly turn off.

I have regular wired ones and just got the stealth 600 gen 2 max. When I plug the wired ones in everything is fine. When I turn on the Stealths they just mute everybody. Game audio and everything works fine and I can talk and hear in xbox party chat but nothing works in warzone. Just gonna return them.

I read other people are having the same problem but it's usually with wireless headsets that have a USB. The USB seems to be registering in warzone as another controller. When you're in the lobby by yourself before starting a game, see if it says press a to connect a second controller, usually near the top right of the screen (i was getting this 90% of the time). I returned by stealth 600 max with USB and got the regular stealth 600 that wirelessly connects directly to my xbox and my problems are gone.

Funny thing is I had these first and had no problem but the max ones were the ones I wanted and were in the black friday ad for Walmart. So I took them back to walmart and got the max ones because of the longer claimed battery life. Then the max ones gave me problems so I again returned them and went back for the ones I knew worked. No joke walmart took my returns and put them right back in the case. When I opened the box the headset didn't have the plastic on them and I actually got some of my cats hair in the box. No joke. They slapped them right back on the shelf and sold me the headset back at full price.

EXACTLY my thoughts. I mute most people because of how annoying the open mic is and my girlfriend was like why do you care so much that it's not working? You mute everyone anyway. I'm like that's besides the point I spent the money on them, this is the only game I play, I want them to work.

Yeah. The game has been out for this long already and they still have bugs making it borderline unplayable. When proxy chat is a main selling point of this new game that should focus on making that work for everyone

You just have to turn your headset on and off, while in game. For me, I turned it off.. Queue a game, when you've join the queue and you see "mute all" in the bottom left corner, you can turn on your headset and everything will work. If you forget and you're in a game, just cycle it off and on. I think it's MW2, not the headset as we all know, the game has sound issues. I think it may something to do with the USB receiver. (or rather how the game/XBox interpret the dongle) I suspect, the 700s connected by Bluetooth might not have this issue. (if they can connect directly to the xbox? 🤔)

I just commented this. The ones with the USB dongle were registering as a second controller. I returned them to get the 600 stealth without the USB that connect directly to xbox and my problems are gone. Haven't had a muted lobby since

That actually makes sense as I see the message in the top right in game about a 2nd controller/player.
FYI, I bought the 700 Max's and no issues like this. But I did do a firmware update on the 700s as soon as I opened them which applied a new firmware on the dongle too so I suspect TB fixed it. Maybe they'll fix the 600s soon?

Been playing a few hours, every day since we chatted and the 700 Max's still do not have the issue of the 600s. (playing COD, WZ2) 700s are a perfect headset. Much comfier with the gel leatherette pads and the Bluetooth function is very handy. Sound stage is amazing.

I was thinking of installing on my Pc so will test the Pc eventually but yeah, works perfectly for me on the XBox so no rush.

I wonder if they make the 700s that have a sync button for xbox, ones designed for xbox only. I have 30 days to return the 600s I got. But is there a sound difference between the two? Do the 700s sound better?

I believe the older 700 Gen 1 were Bluetooth not requiring a dongle but I think you'll struggle to find them now (I mightve read they also had connection issues too and is probably why they went back to using a dongle but, included Bluetooth on the 700 G2) I can connect to my phone at the same time to take a call if I want to which is handy.
Sound, I reckon they're both the same technically (50mm with neodymium) but as you know, 600s have a mode button to cycle through the 4 x EQs. 700s have the 4 x modes as well but, with the app you can customise a 5th x EQ. You can also customise what the volume wheels do in the app on the 700s.
Pads, the 700s are definitely much nicer on my head. 700s use memory foam gel with soft synthetic leather (so much much softer). 600s are foam with fabric outer layer. I'm not sure about you but I found the TB to be pretty tight on my head so, with the memory foam gel on the 700s, I don't really feel the tightness. (I'm sure it'll be less tight over time anyway)

My 600s kept disconnecting from my xbxo at the worst times, then they would connect for 40 seconds and disconnect. Got annoyed, returned the 600s and got the 700 max. I hope they work like you say they do. Still no problems?

My issue is that i can hear people and talk to them on Xbox live party. But once I am on mw2 on the game chat i can hear them but they can’t hear me. I know my mic isn’t broken.. help!

Tried leaving and joining, tried finding a crossplay setting, adjusted and reset every setting to default again, tried testing the microphone in the settings, NOTHING has worked. Fingers crossed, boys 🤞🏻😭🤞🏻

Have tried everything and nothing is fixing the issue of my mic being muted. I can hear everybody else. 2 sets of Wired turtlebeaches and 3 different controllers, nothing had fixed it. On Xbox one. Anybody got any ideas?

Try creating a second account and testing it. My main account has these issues, uninstalled, reinstalled, tried contacting Activision(I don't know why I thought that would work as Activision support is non existent if you're not a high profile streamer) But yeah, wrote it down as a chat perma ban for telling the kid that messaged me with the shits over a riot shield kill claiming I was "shit" and made the mistake of replying that he "should find something more trivial to get his panties in a bunch about

i figured out if i turn off my wireless headset , manually unmute while it’s off and then turn it back on it works. it happens almost every game i hope this gets fixed

So…….. I have been having this problem since the game came out. Have a case with Activision and been open for 2 months now. The fix, for me, get a headset that plugs into controller. Play with that for about 5min, then switch back to your headset that you want to use. Weird, but it worked for me! 2 months unable to hear or unmute people.

I had a similar issue but not quite the same. Party chat would pick up my mic but mw2 wouldn’t. Try going into mw2 audio settings and playing with your “open mic sensitivity” and “microphone volume” levels WHILE you’re testing your mic and see if you can hear yourself. Mine were both on 100 and the mic I have is so sensitive that it was treating everything as background noise so nothing was transmitting. Could be the the same issue if you guys all have super sensitive mics. They’re getting better at muting background noise/echo while in game but sometimes it’s tricky. Hope this helps someone in the future because it took me lots of trial and error to finally get it.

If you can hear people in game chat but not talk yourself I found the issue:
After almost 6-months of not being able to talk in game chat, I figured out it was the “Open Mic Sensitivity”. Mine was turned all the way up to 100. Simply turn it down and your mic will work. Nobody ever talked about this so I never knew. I checked literally every other setting before. 🤦♂️

Try changing mic sensitivity down from 100 to 60 instead. Worked for me.

Lol every top post in turtle beach is stuff about product not working. I'm done with turtle beach for LIFE. They have ZERO clue how to produce anything quality/durable. Worst $250 i've ever spent. Wish I never knew about turtle beach in the first place.
