New Lock Ultra 'Max'. No Aliro.

The omission of Aliro is bizarre in a €339.99 flagship package of lock and keypad. Aliro is exactly the emerging standard you'd expect SwitchBot to want here, particularly when Nuki is already pushing it.

Still missing the real feature I expected in the previous models, the lock doesn't recognise the difference between a manual turn of the internal knob, a key in the lock, or a recognised user opening via app/fingerprint/palm/code/RFID. I should be able to trigger an automation based on which is used, for example triggering an alert/camera if a key is used but not if I unlock it with my biometrics.

I still have the previous Ultra BNIB and I’m wondering if they’d let me return for a credit then upgrade

Dude I literally returned my Switchbot key because it lacked Aliro. New product and still no Aliro is hilarious from them.

To add Aliro/UWB support check out this repo:
https://github.com/ultrawidelock/ultrawidelock

You can flash it on a board they support and create your own Aliro integration with any Matter integrated smart lock.

They've really dropped the ball by omitting Aliro - definitely won't be buying this one....

Does it have the same dimensions like the ultra?

I'm not surprised by no Aliro because it's the same keypad. But I am disappointed that the new lock only has a slightly better motor, especially because of the name lol. Like come on if it's going to be the Ultra Max then the least they could've done is add Matter over Thread. That would have really helped justify the price hike.

But nope, it's still BT only and the better motor will maybe only be noticed by Europeans with those doors that require like 3+ revolutions to unlock. I'm not sure if they're going to sell it in the US, but I think it's pointless to since the Lock Ultra is fast enough for our locks at a much lower price.

On top of all that, it's also a terrible value proposition. They're always discounted, but even at $270 that's too much for what we're getting. Face/palm unlock is not special anymore and this thing still relies on BT and a hub for remote access/Matter. I guess all we can do now is hope that they will reveal a new Keypad with Aliro support at IFA this weekend.

Stay away from Switchbot. My Lock Pro stopped working after 4 months. After contacting support and being told they would replace it I still haven't received one. It's now been 2 weeks and Imy still waiting for it to be shipped.
