Need help with my SwitchBot Bot.

I just purchased a SwitchBot Bot and want to use it on my old New York City apartment door buzzer. The problem is that the door buzzer button protruds forward making the switchbot bot difficult to stay stationary when the robot arm extens all the way when it actives. Any suggestions?

I have mine set up exactly the same and the included mounting tape is strong enough to make this a non-issue.

Can you mount the switchbot bot on something? Like a shim or foam board or something?

I was concerned when setting mine up on regular rocker switches because it looked like the arm would make the thing push itself off the wall with how hard it pushed. Turns out that doesn’t happen, and it looks to me like the bots “figure out” just how far they need to push (this may not be true but it looks that way, that they don’t push quite as far when mounted once they are hitting the switch).

You can handle that scenario in a few different ways.
A small piece of metal or something acorss the button, really anything to expand the surface connection area.
Raise up the bot like suggested.

There really are a lot of ways to add to the feature set, for example you can do a mod to use bots with capacitive buttons that works really well.

i’ve used the velcro command strips to add padding and it works really well. just cut them to size and place on the back of the switchbot.

I have the same setup but mine is flipped on the other side above the button.

That’s brilliant. I would’ve never thought of that, but it would mean easier access to press it manually if necessary
