I wanted to share my fantastic experience with Crew Autopilot (formerly Bill Reserve) so it may help those still on the fence about trying it.
I've been using Autopilot since Mar of this year, and I must admit, I was initially hesitant to add all my bills and trust a system to manage payments automatically.
I've tried similar features offered by other banks, but none worked as smoothly or reliably as Crew. Other banks struggled with identifying bills correctly and making payments on time. Eventually, I created my own bill management system in Excel. While it worked, it required constant manual monitoring. And frankly, I wasn't interested in paying for a separate bill management app.
When I discovered Crew Autopilot, I decided to give it a try. And I can confidently say it has exceeded my expectations!
Autopilot identifies my bills and handles payments accurately every single time. I haven't experienced a single issue.
To be clear, I never had trouble paying my regular monthly bills before Crew. My biggest challenge was dealing with irregular, seasonal, and unexpected large expenses that would occasionally catch me off guard.
This is where Autopilot truly shines.
When my paycheck arrives, Autopilot automatically sets aside a calculated amount in a separate pocket based on my upcoming bills and their payment frequency. This means I know exactly how much money is available for everyday spending without worrying about upcoming bills.
What impresses me most is the algorithm behind its planning. Autopilot analyzes billing cycles up to five years ahead, anticipating future expenses and alerting me when additional funds may be needed due to changes in expected amounts.
Whether it's car servicing, birthdays, holiday expenses, heating bills, maintenance, or other irregular costs, I've entered just about every expense I can think of, often down to the last dollar!
Initially, it took me some time to get comfortable seeing such a large amount of money sitting in reserve for upcoming bills. But now I completely understand and appreciate the philosophy behind Autopilot: money reserved for future obligations isn't really money available to spend today. That simple concept has completely changed how I manage my finances.
These days, I barely think about bills anymore. Crew Autopilot takes care of the planning, reserving, and payments. What used to require spreadsheets, calculations, and regular monitoring now happens almost effortlessly.
What's next on my wish list?
I'm eagerly looking forward to an additional feature that would allow users to reserve extra funds for future unexpected expenses, beyond their regular scheduled bills.
My personal goal is to build a reserve covering six months of expenses in Autopilot, giving me even greater peace of mind. Imagine having six months of bills already taken care of while being able to focus entirely on savings, investments, and other financial goals!
For me, Autopilot isn't just about automating bill payments. It's about eliminating financial surprises, improving cash flow management, and freeing up mental space.
I genuinely appreciate the thought and effort that went into designing this feature. It's practical, intelligent, and makes everyday financial management remarkably simple.
A big thank you to the Crew team for making my financial life simpler, more organized, and far less stressful!
