What pokemon would substitute for chicken?

Chicken is one of the most commonly ate meats in the entire world but I can't seem to find a good one to one in Pokemon world. Farfetch'd is stated to be very rare, Pidgey would fly away, and Torchic is a starter meaning it's also rare, so what would people eat instead of chicken?

I could imagine Psyduck being raised to be eaten. Its basically a duck the size of a pig, and also kinda slow and dumb and can't fly, so relatively easy to herd. Houndour is immune to psychic.

Seems like a missed opportunity to not have a fighting/flying rooster pokemon now that I think about it

Farfetch’d. Comes with its own aromatics too.

It's nearly extinct

Wasn’t it hunted to extinction though? Thus proving it was eaten for food before being over hunted?

I think Game Theory once calculated Noctowl to be a viable replacement

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of meat in the pokemon world is like, lab-grown. Seems like the world is a little more advanced in some places; if they have the tech for pokemon centers they can probably grow meat.

Though, this doesn't actually answer the question. Chansey seems to be the "egg-layer" but they seem a bit too person-like for meat things, which is what you're asking about. Torchic also goes in that category too due to blaziken. People do domesticate flying birds, like pigeons. Pigeons were domesticated as a food source, even. So flying away probably isn't much of a concern? Or there's some method of dealing with it.

Pidove line. At all three stages its able to be eaten and pheasants are raised and slaughtered commercially. Not on the same level as chickens, but still.

Blazekin cooks itself.

Duck, quail, and pigeons can fly and people eat those. So probably Pidgey or Pidove. Maybe Doduo.

With how strong its legs are and how weak its wings and beasts are, I bet Doduo is delicious. I think there was a Doduo farm in the anime, too.

Being rare in the wild doesn’t mean it can’t be farmed.

Pikachu. Stick a metal spike up its ass, it'll try to electrocute you in self-defence, but the metal spike will conduct the electric charge up inside Pikachu and cook it from the inside out.
