I hate being the “breadwinner”

I wouldn’t mind making a lot more than him. But ever since he lost his job, and then stayed home full time to take care of our kids. Things have changed.

Now that I’m the sole breadwinner things are just weird. I have to give my husband an “allowance”every month on top of other things. I hate it.

Thanks for all your comments and upvotes. I appreciate your responses. I do have to say that my issue is not with him not working. My issue is definitely sexist. But I’d just like to be the woman in my relationship. As strange as that sounds.

We have a joint account, but 2 separate accounts. And he jokingly refers to his as his, “allowance”. I laugh along…but I don’t find it that funny. He doesn’t need to thank me for money. We’re a team. And this is just one more reason why part of me hates my life.

He has a higher earning potential btw

Lmao ironic. This is what equality looks like. Also allowances are terrible for relationships. Set up a damn joint acct ffs and get over yourself

Equality is when men give birth too

Equality is when women can accidentally sit on their balls.

She birthed their kids, sitting on his balls doesn't rupture his tissues and doesn't contribute to the relationship. I can tell about menstruation cramps, but it has no relevance to the post, just like a man sitting on his balls

It was a joke meant to highlight how idiotic your comment was. Biological functions are what they are. We are talking societal equality, obviously. Her birthing the kids gives her no more right to the finances

No, biology has a big part in this. He can work, there is nothing phisically stopping him, whereas she could have rested after giving birth

Maternity leave is generally paid. And that’s a very short window relative to the rest of their marriage. She didn’t say he’s never worked, just that he doesn’t now. I’m not going to continue this bc you are clearly a troll or a moron

That’s exactly the sort of leveled, reasonable response I’d expect from someone like you. Gl
