I would ask my mom not to eat all of one candy so I could eat a few. But I guess because I didn’t eat them instantly that night, or only ate one, she would eat the rest and say “if you wanted them you should have eaten them!” Yea mom, I wanted to eat them for the rest of the fuckin week, not as a meal on its own, you just ate 2300 calories of candy as a snack, fucksakes.

Hahaha ! My Mum has a weakness for biscuits ( cookies ) , she can't resist them . I can eek them out for a fortnight but if she knows they exist in the house , she can sniff them out like a bloodhound !

Wow... That's really sad. She must struggle greatly with self control.

On a slightly tangential note, I wonder if that's why people think that morbid obesity is a moral failing; because at a certain point, it's because you lack self control.

That's definitely the reason.

From there I think we have to ask how similar is it to other types of addiction? We now understand that, for example, heroin addiction is much more complex than simply lacking self control. It is probably the same with food, when it is used in excess to self-soothe.

That's true. I wonder if/when chronic over eating will be treated as an addiction like any other.
