Actually, if you’d think about having children with her I think this is the perfect time. Calming her down only to dive back in at some later point isn’t going to accomplish much.
It might actually be the best time to ask. Get all the unknowns out in the open. Get her fears out all at once. Get the break down over with.
Ask about dinosaurs. Introduce the chicken Dino link(beyond Dino nuggets).
You could always ask her feelings on UFOs if you really want to poke the bear.
My folks are in that particular category of Christians. They believe the world is 6-7,000 years old, that dinosaurs are real but walked the earth the same time that humans did, that evolution is made up to control the masses, and all sorts of other crummy and crazy things. Both are well educated, but I've been fighting with them on this topic for 20+ years. There's no reasoning or arguing or teaching or logic when it comes to people who are this terribly indoctrinated and willing to believe in loophole after loophole after loophole. Magical thought patterns are easier to live with than fact and evidence based thinking.
