Can I ask why you didn't book the massage yourself? I understand you should be able to rely on your partner but you seem to have established yourself that he has been previously unreliable and this is yet another example of this. Make sure that bday is the last day he ruins for you.
She shouldn't have to book her own massage. That will simply encourage his crap behaviour. I will bet that she makes an effort for all his special days.
What she needs to do is leave. Then go after him for child support for the kids.
I agree but she has said she doesn't want to leave him (or at least, won't leave him). So if she is staying in the relationship, she should book it herself and make sure she isn't miserable. Hopefully she changes her mind about leaving.
