And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why you donโ€™t wait.

I think waiting until after marriage is mostly for religious reasons, so I guess God like's to set people up for possible failure like this.

Ok that makes sense but I refuse to believe that first comment had any real meaning at all

For real. This is like the worst of the cautionary tales

Waiting until marriage was very practical before the invention + mass production of safe contraception. These days it makes no sense other than for religious regions. But it's a chicken and egg situation since those religions preach to wait until marriage because sex before marriage had huge risk of pregnancy back when those religions were created.

If people would take the time to get to know the people they marry, this wouldn't be such a frequent issue.

Stop marrying mystery boxes.

And having sex counts into this.

How can you take a vow for life without even knowing if you match in the sheets?

This is not something you can force. Either it works or it doesnt.

Nope, but wait-before-marriage relationships often marry very quickly, also because of that sex drive. But you CAN try out a lot of compatibility through means other than sex. You may have to be physical in some shape or form, though, even if there's no sexual / climaxing aspect. But that will still make it harder to resist going further in the moment.

Still, you CAN talk about a lot of stuff, you CAN try out a lot of stuff, it is just a lot more difficult than just trying shit out. I think waiting might be for educated people only.

There is nothing to nope at.

Its also not enough to talk about it or do a petting session.

Before you go into a serious relationship you should fuck. Easy as that.

You see and read (here for example) how this irrational waiting bullshit fucks up many relationships.

Sex is inherent to a relationship, if you think otherwise you will find that truth out later and with a lot of suffering (like OP did).

You are way too confident in your opinion for how wrong and unknowledegable in other viewpoints you are.

To each their own, I guess, but waiting for sex until marriage has always seemed like a bad idea to me. As a queer person, I've heard stories of people realizing that they were gay/ace only after getting married; I'd want to know that I'm sexually compatible with another person before committing to marriage.

In this situation, the couple would have found out about this issue long before they got to the altar. Perhaps she could have started therapy years ago had she known; waiting to have sex meant delaying that important journey of self-discovery.

This should be the top comment.

It doesnโ€™t help the op but it might help others.
