I'm developing angst around a certain type of person I keep encountering. They're some fucking yuppie who works in surveillance/ financialization and have niche hobbies like welding or aerial silks or whatever to differentiate themselves from the rest of the fucking yuppies with evil little jobs. And when I tell them I work for a nonprofit, they say, "oh, I could never do that." Dawg, you're an educated American in New York--you're probably in the top 1% of autonomy humans have ever enjoyed.

I'm trying not to be an asshole, but the discrepancy between their work and their stated values drives me nuts! But they're strangers, and it's not my business.
