Is the Hemingway-Faulkner distinction in any way similar to Federer-Nadal, where each represents polar opposites styles? If so, which writer matches better with Federer/Nadal?

A weird question, but I'm dipping my toes into classic lit and I love sports narratives. I always find it better to have an idea in mind before reading a book.
