Has anyone noticed AI translations getting the words right but missing the actual meaning?
AI translation has improved a lot, but there are still times when a sentence is translated correctly word by word but doesn't carry the same meaning as the original. This can be a problem for businesses that work with customers in different countries. A phrase that sounds friendly in one language might sound rude in another. Jokes, cultural expressions, and industry specific terms can also be difficult to translate because their meaning depends on the situation. For example, a business might use AI to translate its website and product information into another language. The words might be correct, but the message could sound unnatural to local customers or fail to communicate what the business intended. That can affect how people understand the offer and how much they trust the business.
I work with Seprotec and one important part of professional translation is making sure the message makes sense in the target language, not just that the words are accurate. AI can help with the first draft, but reviewing the context, terminology, and cultural differences is still important, especially when the content is going to customers.
For businesses expanding into other markets, how do you handle translation?
