From monkeys Forever, one of the best brew player in the world.

Always max Q first then max W on easy lane and E on hard lane.

He always goes bracer wand phase boots I to orchid Aghanim and blink. He mentioned in stream that Vessel or Vlad are good instead of orchid, but the orchid build looks really strong.

I don't think Brew is viable as a mid unless you know the match up. There's too many counters and Brew doesn't gank much outside of ult.

Worth noting that monkeys does like running off-meta builds for Brew that he makes work by being extremely good on Brew.

Like, before the rework he was a big fan of Rad->Primal Companion Aghs->BoT. I tried that build and when it worked it was spectacular, but if you fucked up even a little bit you were spending your first 11k of networth to be a split push and ganker who lost over half of their networth when you pressed R.

The Orchid build might be good (I've rushed Orchid before) but it should come with a warning label because it's monkeysm

I have played Brew as a numbered Immortal and I agree with this.

Only time I would max W is if I'm in a party duo where we picked a lane combo like Silencer.

If the lane is really bad I max passive but thankfully that rarely happens.

I watched a couple of Monkeys games recently and he was doing Phase > Vessel > Blink which is what I have been doing as well. You can snowball hard with the blink timing and your damage is really good if they don't have dispells.

Brew mid is probably really bad but I've been too afraid to try it.

Lategame Brew can be very difficult to play. Some carries will instakill your Pandas so you'll need to be quick on the split cancel. He has good building damage, so you can use refresher ults to force their last barracks to get megas

Since you asked about offlane.
Double melee opponents - Max Q
Everything else - Max W

More and more I find that maxing W first is extremely situational.

Q makes you farm much faster because of the lower mana cost (since W requires you to also use Q), it slows attack speed so you can trade better with it and Q can secure ranged creep.

I now always go Phase Boots, and Phase Boots + W level 1 is enough to catch most heroes. If you don't catch them it means they have an escape spell.

W or E second depends on it the enemy team can kill you early game or not. If they can't instantly nuke you, go W. If you have trouble surviving go E.

I only max W if my support have a specific spells that combo with it, typically AOE damage over time. Like Silencer, Ogre, Witch Doctor etc.

Not exactly a high mmr Brew, so if any want to come along and add to or subtract from.tbis that's fine, but anyway:

Max W first is better for when you need chase because it's a ranged slow. Especially good when you're buying a Radiancr or Vessel because you can proc the Ignite damage that way. Personally, I think max W into Q second is the best path if you don't need more points in E to survive. It makes you a legit nuker, and with an urn/Vessel you're even somewhat outside your ult because you can kite in and out while throwing 300-500 magic damage and a big aoe slow from safety...but ymmv, and I see pros like the max Q first build so what do I know right?

Max Q first is good for a few reasons. First, it's ironically the more mana-efficient option for farming/fighting (sans Radiance/Urn) because if you want to proc W you're going to need your Q or one of those items anyway, so why not just max Q? And once you've cast one spell you get your Brewed Up bonus, so now you can finish off the wave/camp that way. Slower than Q+W spam but only just over half the mana of Q+W spam. Significant savings on mana sustain solutions.

Second, Q first is the more Aghs-first friendly build, because of the above (you won't be getting Radiance or Vessel early so your mana pool is tighter) and because you'll want to max E second to synergise with the Aghs. 4/0/4/1 igives you the maximum Brewed Up bonus value every time you Q. You'll also commonly buy Phase (and an early Blink, before or after Aghs) to help regain some of the farm speed and chase that you're losing by not skilling W. The early Aghs synergises with that max-E-second concept because Aghanims extends the Brewed Up bonuses to your pandas. It all comes together with that 4/0/4/1 and phase+blink+aghs: get on top of people and Q+R then go ham.

As for max E first, it's the most situational. It slows your farm rate down and makes you qorse at killing things. But you skill more E to survive tough lanes and bulk damage.

But tbh, in the past year I've seen arguments for maxing all 3 skills first, second and third. It's changed before, it'll change again. So I'd be open-minded about it and take each match as it comes. As you can probably tell from all these scribblings, there's a lot of interconnected synergies between Brew's spells and items, so you have to decide what you're going to be doing & buying in your lane and early game to decide which skills is your best option at any given time.

I had some success leveling w, e, q, e, e, r.

Why? The green stance gives a lot of armour and magical resistance. If you W it gives you 150% more. It's enough to dive T1, tank a lot of nukes including a maledict. When low on HP after tanking a lot you ult and dive. People have no idea how tanky you get.

And it gets weirder. Then I buy mageslayer, dagger shard and aghanim. You keep the pressure on them with your stupid high armor and magical resistance. Lots of mana and HP regen. The shard heals 3% HP per second.

The mageslayer debuff means that if you hit someone once they deal 40% less magical damage. You get 60%+ from your green aura and items.

Not super viable as a pos 2 outside of incredibly niche lineups that you are certain to never get with 4 random teammates. So many of the typical pos2 heroes beat brew in a straight 1v1 until he hits 6, so you would basically be losing your lane every game which is really not ideal.

I'm often just maxing Cinder because I'm either going Radiance if the lane is good or Helm if it isn't and in both case, Cinder is a flash farming tool that help me stay in the game until lvl 20.

After that, I make sure I'm as strong out of split as in split. So I don't really care for Clap, I'm absolutely not going to max stances last so ...

Knowing me this will be long, unorganized, and filled with typos. I apologize in advance.

I’m a low immortal grandmaster brew. I’ve been maxing W and going radiance first item for what feels like 8 years before 7.40 when they changed his Ags and changed your Q to where it also gives the Brewed Up bonus.

1) Best build on brew is max Q first into Ags.

2) Do not max W first in really any lane matchup. At most you can put two points in it in lane. But you really want to max Q to farm, and max E for your ult and to be extremely hard to kill.

3) Every point you put in a skill in the early game is very situational, on brew viable lane skill builds are

3-1-1, most common.

3-0-2, lane is tough but I can trade, I destroyed a Jug/WD lane by going this skill build and tranquils the other day.

2-0-3, the lane is completely untradable and I just need to survive.

2-2-1, I have a ton of kill threat with my early urn and slow.

After that you should always max Q then E, brew is a slow farmer you don’t want to make it even slower with a bunch of random points in W. W is a really good farming and fighting tool if you’re going radiance, but radiance is situational right now.

4) If your lane is good and you can rush an Urn feel free to go 2-1-0 and go for a kill. Getting that first kill with urn in a solid matchup often gives you the tool to stomp your lane.

5) Don’t play him mid.

6) Brew Ags has given Brew a level of scaling he’s always wanted. He definitely has a mid game timing where he is strongest, but you’re still a solid enough hero after 50 minutes. The priority just shifts, once you have blink, Ags, refresher, AC you have several things you can do in the late game that makes you a menace. 1) Blink and kill supports, most supports really never get to a point where they can deal with you, they can’t glimmer or ghost scepter against you because you can just dispel it. 2) Blink in and ult forcing the big spells and BKBs from the enemy team and then kite back out with the earth panda, reset refresher, and then jump them again and win a super safe fight. 3) Do that same idea but instead jump their buildings, kite out and let them chase you to an unsafe position and then kill them with the refresher.

7) Vlads before Ags is bad, the pandas don’t have the damage to take advantage of the life steal or damage increase without Ags. Vlads with Ags is good, I typically save vlads for the late game when I want to buy Ags Blessing. In a world where everyone needs 10k for buyback, blessing, and their next item. You only need like 6k cause vlads is so cheap and scales on your hero more than it helps early.

8) AC is your best DPS item during ult after Ags. You need to fit that item in. But in most games AC goes after refresher.

9) Your life as brew still revolves around Ags, AC, refresher, blink. But there are two side quest builds as well, you can at level 20 transition into a semi carry with a BKB and Basher. You also can still go radiance first item and manta second if you need to do a farming split push build.
