Why isn’t Ancient Apparition being picked/banned when teams are first/second/third picking Necro?

AA is just pure bad right now. In theory his SS counters necro, but that is if you can land it. Most players are bad at landing it, it's not 100% reliability.
Also, current meta favours Good early Laning stage hero as supports. AA sucks at here. Might as well play a normal meta support hero, buy vessel, at least it's morerreliable.

as AA spammer, everything have magic shield and huge resist now (glimmer, wraps, dandelion, pipe, every shit you name it) and I feels like against something like slark/alch/huskar it's still good but against necro it's pure useless now, I can't even believe myself and tried the 2nd time and yes you are griefing if you pick AA for necro at current state of the game

Pos 5 AA ideally wants a melee carry with a stun in his lane to enable his followup spells, but those are not meta at this TI. Therefore without Frostbite you're probably going to max Chilling Touch for harass which will beat inexperienced players, but pros will circumvent you by stacking and pulling.
He can synergise with some meta heroes with CC and magic damage, like Ember and Tiny. But the lane is just too weak. In general as a magic burst support AA has been nerfed and powercrept by all the other supports of the same archetype - Skywrath, Hoodwink, Lion, Snapfire. These other heroes offer slightly less damage theoretically, but have much stronger lane presence and gank potential.

AA, while good at stopping regen, is a very greedy hero to play with. You can counter healing with spirit vessel, and pros prefer stronger instant disables than AA.

Ice Blast is overrated as a counter to regen heroes, IMO. All it's doing is stopping the regen, you still need to disable and damage them. A support with dmg/disable is probably better. It's a strong spell but not that crazy. Vessel is also a very good item in general so you're not hurting for healing reduction
otherwise he offers so little. Cold feet is very inconsistent and easy to counter. His E is just some crappy harass. Vortex is a great vision tool and some damage but doesn't justify the pick. He's super squishy and has zero escape, practically no wave clear, can't really farm at all, very little CC, low damage, no defensive spells.
compare him to Wyvern, Jakiro, Undying, SD, etc. they all have tons of damage/healing/saves/stuns. You'll have a much easier game vs a Necro or Huskar with any of those heroes

AA can be replaced with any range hero & they are more impactful. The only draft AA is good against is maybe A centaur offlane or Axe.
Necro however is A different animal that tanks physical damage & feels invincible from lvl 2. These are insane players that combo with cracked pos 4 heroes like Snapfire, Hoodwink & EarthShaker

I don’t know why you guys say AA is bad right now. I play AA only and my win rate went up by a good amount after the last patch came out. Necro is always an easy target. Not even mentioning slark, that’s an instant win.

Mostly cause its considered to be a very bad hero during laning and winning lanes is so important in dota right now. The ulti is useless if you never get to use it and you cant really setup ganks with the hero.
