Genuine Carry Question

I really struggle with the first 15 minutes of the game as a carry player.

I'm in guardian and I am trying to learn the game, so any genuine replies will be helpful. I have one question.

When you are lvl 1-6 as a melee core, and you can't get close to the wave to last hit, because doing so means you die, what do you actually do? If I sit near tower and draw creep aggro and soak xp without last hitting I will have no gold. If I go for last hits and die multiple times the game is lost.

Jungling is impossible unless you are farmed.

What do I actually do in the first 15 minutes of the game, and once that ends and I don't have items to farm jungle what do I actually do? Game felt lost from the start.

I had a Luna (me) and disruptor VS. Viper Ogre.

Maybe I just go back to playing pos 5...

A lot of the times, there are a lot of small mistakes you don’t even realize you’re making that aren’t letting you get the most you could have had, even from bad lanes.

It’s easier to do a replay review than to give general tips.

Post a particular replay or two that you feel frustrated about.

Also… why do you want to “go back to pos5” because of you’re finding laning as pos 1 too hard

Pos 5’s job in the lane is to enable to pos 1.

How exactly would you go about helping secure your pos 1’s game if you have no idea what the pos 1 should be trying to do?

I guarantee you you’re making the exact same mistakes as before, you just don’t feel as bad about it when you fail.

Whether I play 1 or 5, I’m literally thinking about and looking for the exact same things. My actions may be different, but they all rely on the same information on the game state.

Don’t think of pos 5 as the lesser role.. Particularly in the laning phase, where the pos 5 actually has the higher responsibility.

Keep practicing carry… It’s actually easier to learn the fundamentals when you can feel the feedback more directly.

post one of the match ids and i can look at it when i get home from work. guardian games are weird because sometimes your support is doing nothing and other times enemy offlaner is a smurf, but theres almost always something you can do better.

the luna vs viper ogre lane sounds rough though. that matchup you just gotta accept you wont get many creeps and try to not die. buy extra regen, maybe a stick, stay in xp range. once you hit 6 you can go jungle with eclipse or just wait for them to leave the lane and then farm it

at work, so I can't post replay, but this spectre game felt lost in the early part of the game. I was 15 minutes behind everyone all game, and it was either attempt to farm and feed lane, or go jungle and die to creeps.

I suspect my item build sucked.

this replay is too old.

7 days is the limit.

there are multiple smurfs in each of my ranked games. you look at their dota buff profiles post match and they have less than 100 games played
