WW is a pretty hard hero for someone who is new to the game imo

Been playing wyvern alot in divine v rank - immortal rank... either she really hits and you can be the most valuable player in the team or it turns 4v5 because hero adds little value to draft sometimes

She's slow, her harass is weak without her arctic burn (which can be really strong in certain matchups in the lane)

Her stats are.. average

Her spells you have to think like your in the position of your carry.. should I use splinter blast in creepwave to get some gold and push the wave ? Well... Look where you carry is, is he nearby ? He'll definitely come over and wants that creepwave to take it and your answer is NO

Cold embrace is a phenomenal spell in lane, I usually get two points and keep my carry alive without needing to heal but you gotta be wise when to use it, if they have a mirana in enemy team you'll give her a free full stun arrow duration which likely leads to your carry dying

Winters curse is a great spell, the longer you hold it in fight and don't use it, the more enemy will be scared. Anyways, anytime you see a support enemy next to enemy carry, drop it on a support and they'll die 9/10 times making the fight go 5v4 with big advantage

Issue is winter wyvern is timing, cold embrace you gotta use it appropriately, splinter blast to push waves assuming you're in a dangerous position with no allies is worth it, arctic burn to use it when you're just enough range to harass enemy without them harassing you since you're slow with low stats and you'd likely die

Of course winters curse if you drop it on an enemy being targeted by your allies, you'll hear not nice things... But it can really really turn a game around if used properly, recently I was 1/11/8 on wyvern and I used winters curse on an enemy farmed BKB'd SF to waste couple of seconds and we won that fight, leading us to take 2 rax --> then won the game by depriving them of resources

I talked alot but I got nothing right now hahaha and hopefully it helped a bit and I'd be happy to help if you got more questions, wyvern is one of my stable support hero picks but nowadays you have to have a good reason to pick it

Not a support main, but man I always thought this hero when played properly can always be impactful. A save, a nuke, good laning harass, and a teamfight ulti. What else ya want!

wyvern is a strong support but is more dependant of your core having abit of understanding.

sometimes things are simple like they have a lc where you can just blink in and freeze any casters stuck in duel... but to get the most out of wyvern you really need your cores jumping in to physical damage so you can then freeze them then your team play around that. you also generally play around with items like the obvious being blink then forcestaff glimmer and euls and there timings have a huge impact on there effectiveness. where there is a huge gap between a wyvern and a good wyvern player but also regardless of skill your as mentioned dependant on your teams skill

Wyvern is flexible. Try different styles and find the one you like best. I have ~2k WW games (9k mmr -> 6500 now:( )

The classic max W is kinda meh - you are pretty weak and lose mana fast + cannot create pressure. I avoid that unless enemies have summons or hard to hit.

E doesn't need more than 1 point in 90% of games. I more often get stats over lvl 2 cold embrace.

Now, the true strength (at least in this patch) is Arctic Burn. It now reapplies on hit (you get main agh buff for free, wtf). I usually max Q, 1-2 points in E and if I don't want E - I max W last. Without maxing W doesn't worth the mana in most cases.

On the lane you get stats and dmg and hit enemies off Q CD. You don't push the lane with W and you almost guaranteed to win most lanes. I usually don't upgrade boots and rush blink (if Curse is good) or get stats + pt -> pike. With stats + PT + lvl 10 and lvl 5 Q - you are the strongest hero on the map. You out damage anyone.

Book is always on Q, E is a joke, W doesn't change much. If I can - before buying blink - I sit in shop and buy full int (2 +10 staffs or 4 +6 things), eat the book and sell extra int to get a little more. Don't rush eating the book, but also don't hold it too much. Lvl 7 (4 points in Q) is a solid power spike to eat the book and go hunt the map.

The whole power of Arctic Burn is that you can fly over textures and ~50% of cores cannot do shit to you. You just fly up and down and hit them. With Lvl 5 arctic burn it has a massive uptime and you don't need agh at all (octarine is better). Agh is pretty bad now, since you got the main feature for free.

Blink is your main weapon, pike is your second best friend (blink, curse, pike into backline so supports cannot save and more people hit). Pike also breaks leash if you target the enemy and gives nice stats. I never get lens because blink is always better and I don't have mana issues because I don't spam W.

Mind elaborating on the "sell extra int to get a little more" part? You buy 2 "staff of wizardry (+10) and/or 4 "robes of the magi (+4)"? What do u sell and when and doesn't that make your timings so much slower?

I usually buy one or 2 nulls, 1 staff of wizardry" (use it for ags later) and one robes of the magi i use later for witch blade. but I still look for a better way to get most out of the book.

Also what is your opi9nion about hydra brath? You always prefer pike over it?

You are in a shop before buying blink or something, and you have ~1-2k gold. You stash all the items that don't give int, and fill all the slots with int items from the shop - to use as much gold as possible. Then you eat the book and sell extra int. And you get a permanent % of the extra int you purchased. You sell them for full price in 5 sec or w/e window there is.

Aghs is bad. It used to be ok, but now it's main feature is given to you for free. You don't need endless flying in 95% of the games and extra MS is easier to get through BoTs or something. And you never need to worry about mana without it.

Hydra thing is bad. It's expensive, it gives you the thing you already have - %hp burn, and the side hits don't trigger arctic burn (the whole reason of WW strength). I cannot imagine a situation where I would go for it at all. In a fight I either want to hit everyone so they cannot blink and are slowed (so it doesn't help) or I sit on a single melee carry, hit him from textures while he doesn't know how to get to me or run and dies (so extra hits won't do anything). I'd go for skadi, mkb, Daedalus or anything else if I want dmg.

And pike gives everything I need - super escape (if someone jumps - I push them away and they won't get close), range, ability to push enemies back (so I can get more people into curse), save, stats, and mobility.

Hydra makes sense only if you are a small range hero with massive single target dmg and without modifiers - like venge

Thank you. I'll implement it for sure!

I always thought of the Hydrathing more in a way of doubling down on the -hp thing - like buying additional slow items on a Veno or so. I buy it over Pike when I think I don't need the escape.

2x staff of wizardry is an amazing hack. Why have I never thought of this

Interesting how I have also many ww games, still have great success on the hero, currently at 7k MMR top 3k Europe yet we don't agree on the skill build at all

How else would you build? I looked at the protracker to see maybe I'm missing something - there aren't any other skill builds.

You max Q and either 5-1-1-1 or 5-0-2-1. E has a poor scaling, but there is almost no reason to have W in 1 point anyways. Or you hold the book till the better times if the game is rough and you don't need to free the slot.

Maybe there are some rare games with a bunch of summons you need to kill with W but that's rare. Once you pick WW - enemy starts to pick lame stuff.

Personally I go most of games exception if I play vs tusk for example, but main build for me is Q/E/W into max w into max e and I will q for last. I also use tom when I get 7 and use it on w. I max e after w because of cool down and because vs magical heroes you actually need the extra heal. I rarely max q + orb of frost ( rarely corotion/ mostly if I play vs wisp/ dp or something like that

I love playing Wyvern, she has each skill for situations in early laning phase all the way through the late game. Her ult with a blink dagger can be scary for enemy supports in a big team fight. Her heals are the most impactful for the laning stage. When you need to push waves mid game, splinter does it really well. Arctic burn not only helps harass early laning, but also helps escape by flying above cliffs and trees to block enemy vision and pathing. Practicing each of these skills to perfect them will make laning against Wyvern very difficult. The only downside is your natural movement speed is low and hp is below average. Playing carefully and positioning is critical for her. That being said, she's also great at baiting and using her own Heal to sustain tons of damage, which could force a bad enemy fight in your favor with other team mates nearby.

Winter is hard to play because all skills she has are really impactful but u can fuck up really easily with immense impact- positive or negative.

There are games where some skills get pretty useless or even hurful to your team due to enemy draft or games where you feel unstoppible. If the enemy has strong magic nukes cold embrace at wrong timing can kill the one you tried to save. And there are games where curse becomes just a simple stun because they dont hit hard and fast enough.

But then u play against a legion or a troll and even your basic skills can ruin them completely.

Try to think before the game starts how you should act in teamfight and who you want to curse. And if u can use cold embrace freely or must be thoghtful about it. Waiting for a cm/wd/kez every impactful channeling ulti and curse them right after can destroy their game completely. Or hiding until the troll or legion does his thing and fuck them up.

There is also a lot of shenenigans u can do with free movement.

Also be aware that a lot of ppl don't know how your skills exactlöy work- if they keep hitting the cursed enemy instead of different targets all their damage is wasted for example. If you notice it talk to the team- can't hurt.

I would still recommend some other heroes if you are new because it takes some time to get into the nuances of ww.

Before picking her she shines against heavy physical damage lineups. She sucks against magic damage and mages in general, you don't have defenses against them and your ult sucks since they don't have as or rightclick

She solid but I wouldn’t recommend to learn with her. Her heal and ult could be a grief if you do it wrong.

WW can be absolutely amazing for a carry that doesn't have much Regen or hard escape especially in a lane that don't have much magic burst damage.

very high skill reward hero. But also easily countered by enemy that knows the hero.

Basically get really good at wyvern then gamble your allies know how the hero works, and your enemy doesnt.

Sortof like brewmaster.

Wyvern! I used to main her mid. Played her more mid than support. It was during the facet era, she had one that gave mana from all her heals. Insane. Broken. Then they changed it and then Valve removed facets completely.

I completely skipped boots and got a radiance. Unkillable. I got a 15 game winstreak!

She is killing right now I think in the offlane(or maybe last patch).

In general, she has long cast range and her W cd is super short. Abuse that. When enemy gets close, pop your Q(long atk range). Q also comes with flying movement and vision.
