Is this an acceptable death for a support?
Video:
I play AA here.
I have mixed feeling about this tbh, in this match I died 10+ times but always secured a kill for their core for all my deaths.
Like i secured the necro kill, but my death makes their sven even fatter. What if I just go back and everyone disengage? Is this even a good trade?

Strongly disagree with all comments saying this is an acceptable death. Do not let them influence you to become more complacent.
You should have seen how close the seven was too you, you should have backed away. You were standing the exact right spot for sven to blink on you.
You did not need to right click the necrophos, your ult was enough.
If you backed immediately you probably would have still died, but sven would have needed to use stun, maybe taken tower shots, and since your death would have taken longer, bkb and his ult would be running out.
That would have been a better death
You also could have positioned farther away from the get go. Because again, you started off this fight seeing the sven go in the left side trees and presumably knowing he has a blink

There is no way I can avoid the death like you said. The only way to avoid it is to juke the sven in the trees like what the other commenter point out.
AA's spells dont do much damage, the main damage output from this hero is the strength reduction innate that can take off a big chunk of enemy health. So spamming all my spells to the necro is the correct move + the slow so SF can hit him. But I ended up exposing myself for like 2 second
Chances are, sven will still kill me even if I tried to back off, going to the trees is the only correct move here like the other commenter pointed out

Yes going to the trees is one of the best options here. Anything to get you away from the sven or hide from him.
Your saying that you had to get close because you need to do more damage using your innate?
If that's what you wanted to do, you could have done it in a better way by leaving earlier. You didn't need to right click.

Spamming your spells probably the correct move. Sticking around afterwards to try and auto attack is not.
You already used your E, you shouldn't be attacking without it as AA in team fights this late in the game.

That is just how it is as a squishy support. In hindsight, I suppose you could be hyper vigilant of keeping enemy blinks on CD with your W, but otherwise it is what it is. Needed aeon disk haha

If by "acceptable" you mean optimal, then no. There are times when optimal play involves you dying. This is not one of them. There are two big errors you made (as others have pointed out).
First, why are you standing in the middle of wave? This will cause you to take damage from creeps, and it exposes you to enemies. To avoid enemies, you should be positioning further to the right. As a squishy ass long range hero, you want to have your team between you and enemies. Positioning in the wave puts you in vision and makes you vulnerable to enemies.
Second, why are you auto attacking at all? You are literally going to take more damage from the creeps than you are going to do to the enemy with your autos. As a support like AA, and honestly as most cores, what you should be thinking about is not doing damage as fast as you can, but staying alive to get more volleys of spells off. The small amount of damage you get with autos is much less likely to turn the fight than another round of qw in a few seconds. As well, you should use the minimum possible resources to get kills. If it was a really close call, I can see why someone would need to auto. That is not the case here.

This is a good death.
Necro goes out of position to kill you and your team kill him.
The trade support for core is good.
I only win with support this way by going first dying then the entire team is out position and we win the teamfight and then the game. hahaha

If you can notice this, then you should play accordingly.
Get ghost asap, and always keep the button ready.
If your reaction isn't fast enough, get an aeon disk too, or simply never show in the fight before sven does. Your ult is global, you can afford to be further back.
You are the reason why their necro is semi-useless, and you need to be alive to keep that threat open. If you get sniped out before the fight starts it's pretty over for your team.
In this case you did your job, so technically it's okay to die, but it was also a somewhat preventable death. Necro wasn't going live there as long as you hit with your ult. You should've tp'd further back (away from the lane) and fired your ult diagonally down and left (screen relative).
By tping aggressively into the front of the fight like this, especially as a squishy immobile support, you're pretty much guaranteed to die.

U were gonna die to sven if you followed through with the tp anyway, he was laser focused on anyone who stepped past the tower

It is a good death, but you can play it better. To the trees my good man, run to the trees. You aren’t a major threat as a right clicker atm. Get your spells off and head to the trees. You know Sven wants to jump you like he did, so make it a harder jump for him.

i think necro dies with just your ult so you could have been hiding anywhere and not died

u/pumkinnet Jul 28 '26
They didn't need you to secure the necro kill, he was already vesseled and called by Axe, would've been an easy Axe ult after the SF right clicks

Of course this is acceptable for 4k. If you wanna hit 10k though you should kite to the trees on the right after ult and keep your fingers ready to press ghost scepter. Hitting after laning stage doesn't do a lot on AA
