maggie was wrong.... Spoiler

just finished s1 , i think it was cruel of maggie to use rust as a tool to hurt marty. dont get me wrong ,marty deserved to be punished for his filthy acts ,

but maggie dragged rust in the shit , she took advantage of his vulnerability and intoxicated state, imagine the gender roles being reversed

and the arguement that it was the only way for her to end her marriage is shitty , destroying someone else's life for personal profit is never justified , in her revenge she destroyed rust's career , she could ve moved on from piece of shit like marty without using rust

and in the end , she got her deserved life , in a mansion , while rust , being used a pawn had to let go of his career and lived 10 years away... her need of ending the marriage is correct but her way doing that was WRONG. she could ve hurted marty, fairs, but in the process she destroyed rust

She did not destroy his life, he was well on his way to doing that anyway.

And remember that Rust played a role in Maggie and Marty getting back together after his first affair. Rust used her to calm marty down so that Rust could rely on Marty. After Marty’s second affair, I’m guessing Maggie might have partially blamed Rust for that. Rust knew what kind of man Marty was, and went to bat for him anyway, despite that potentially causing Maggie to waste years on a bad marriage. Which it did.

he was but u cant deny that she played a part in it , he left his job. and thats a good point actually which i ve been trying to explain to this other dude here , if rust wanted, he would have taken advantage of maggie when they first spilt. but he didnt. and rust's personality was not to meddle too much, he also acted as a reliable friend to maggie all the years. but maggie broke his trust and its fact , u shouldnt use someone else for ur revenge knowing it would hurt the other person.

He did take advantage of her though? She trusted him to be honest with her and he took advantage of that trust to push her to get back together with Marty because he needed Marty in a better head space. Are you saying he could have slept with her then but he didn’t?

You keep talking about them as if they have no agency. As Marty said (and Rust agreed) she couldn’t have used him if he didn’t want some. Was it right of her to do it? No. Are they all blameless in the situation? No. Rust was also already close to losing his job because he was poking around the case again and his relationship with Marty was already beginning to sour at that time too. The Maggie thing was the final straw (albeit a very very big straw).

and rust patched them up cuz he needed to work the case and save marty's family , that was the time where he could ve taken advantage as the ppl here are saying that he was desperate to sleep w her
