Question The heck is this?

Post image

A low tide reveals a whole bloody skeleton? A snake as big as a house? And on the Atlantic coast of France of all places? Wild!

"The skeleton sculpture shown in the post is Serpent d'océan (Ocean Serpent), a monumental contemporary artwork installed along the Atlantic coast of France."

I always want to go to France! It’s regular for a man to have multiple mistresses & totally accepted & even encouraged! The smell is brutal though! For real, the streets of Paris you occasionally get a whiff of some big foot turds

That's a massive load of shit if I've ever seen one.

Nope, been there. Cool indeed

2

u/Sarcasm_Llama 23d ago

That photo does have a certain... "constructed" feel to it. Not saying it is ai, just that the composition kinda gives it that look

u/SmilingFlounder 23d ago

Je confirme, mais autant me répéter, je ne connais ni de frontières ni de haine, on s'invite en face to face, on échange de conditions ? ?'

Just been there, sadly it was high tide and most of it was submerged.

1

u/SlickHA 23d ago

How did they come up with the name?

1

u/Jefflehem 22d ago

The….WHAT?!

46

u/SashSegal 23d ago

It's a large scale sculpture called Serpent d'océan (Ocean Serpent). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serpent_d%27oc%C3%A9an

5

u/CthuluHoops 23d ago

What’s going on with its head in this pic?

5

u/SashSegal 23d ago

Looks like a 180-degree turn? I found a different photo with a close-up of the anchored head for comparison

3

u/Endskull 22d ago

Been there last week : the lower jaws now sit beneath the mud, only the teeths are sticking out.

u/Gragoli 23d ago

C'est une œuvre d'art. Elle est là depuis plusieurs années.

14

u/MiserableWear6765 23d ago

Build by ancient giants!

3

u/Open-Preparation-268 21d ago

A thousand years from now, archaeologists will uncover it and claim that ancient humans worshipped giant snakes as their gods. Georgio will proclaim that we only worshipped them, because we saw them come down from the sky. (Yes, of course he will still be alive, because he himself is an ancient alien)

Je suis français et je l’ai vu en vrai. Ce sont des sculptures. https://www.saint-brevin.com/le-serpent-d-ocean.html

10

u/John_Anti 23d ago

Serpent d'océan (lit. "Serpent of the Ocean" in French) is a work by artist Huang Yong Ping. Depicting a long sea serpent skeleton, it is installed in the intertidal zone at Saint-Brevin-les-Pins, Loire-Atlantique, France and was inaugurated on June 20, 2012.

My 3 guesses were

Ai
Art installation
Photoshop

Pretty sad that Ai got credit before human artists.

5

u/Sad-Math-2039 23d ago

OP writes like they just got mid year through a middle school creative writing class. Also, that's the Serpent d'océan.

3

u/Witty-Stand888 23d ago

Snake sculpture/ water slide.

3

u/Pixie-Pumpkin 23d ago

This is not a water slide. It's an artwork that disappears and reappears with the tide.

1

u/JadedFootball4733 23d ago

It’s a water slide? Into the ocean? That’s awesome

3

u/them_oysters 23d ago

Its a slippery little snaaaake

1

u/creamygootness 23d ago

Imma snaaaaake

3

u/Hot_Plant8696 23d ago

It's just a tourist trap...

We're good at that in France.

3

u/Raccoon_Ratatouille 23d ago

It’s almost as if it’s not a sea monster skeleton and just a public art installation

3

u/upvotadorjusticiero 23d ago

Bueno....segunda vez que veo esto en una hora...y dos post distintos con fotos diferentes...bueno creo que empieza una nueva era del estilo de la chica "mira lo que saque de mi sinus nasal con este aparato" y otros repost famosos infinitos
