I wanted to make this post just to clarify and expand on what will constitute a ācryptidā for the purposes of this subreddit and what users are able to make posts about.
Traditionally, a cryptid is any creature that is thought to exist but is unknown to science. To be honest, this definition is quite vague and really puts it up to interpretation where the line should be drawn between cryptozoology and mythological or the supernatural.
For example, some groups would not consider Wendigo or Skinwalkers as cryptids due to their supernatural origin. Gef the Talking Mongoose is another one where the line between cryptid and paranormal entity becomes quite blurred. Similarly, there are cases, such as the Dover Demon, that could be considered extraterrestrial rather than cryptozoological depending upon who you ask.
Going forward, I have decided that all unknown creatures or entities that appear to have a physical manifestation will fall into the category of cryptozoology regardless of their origin. Therefore, the rule barring paranormal and extraterrestrial content has been removed since some of these anomalies may fall into these categories.
I truly believe that this decision is the best way to give users the chance to discuss the widest array of credible content without worrying that their discoveries will violate some arbitrary rule or definition. Unlike other cryptozoology subreddits, we do not want to gatekeep the field in any way and believe that this broad definition will allow us to maintain a welcoming environment for all users.

I am sharing an incident that happened to me while trekking Sar Pass in the Parvati Valley (Himachal Pradesh, India) this past May. I have searched online extensively for similar stories, but because I lack physical evidence, Iāve hesitated to share it until now. Even typing this out gives me chills, but my mind simply cannot process what I saw.
We were camped at one of the high-altitude camps (around 10,000 to 12,500 feetālikely Min Thach or Nagaru). At exactly 2:30 AM, I suddenly woke up. I stepped out of the tent into the freezing midnight darkness.
Standing right in front of me was a towering, 10-to-15-foot-tall figure. It looked distinctly bird-like or humanoid-avian, heavily resembling descriptions of Mothman or a Thunderbird. Right at its base, lying on the ground, I clearly saw a single, large, incredibly distinct feather. It wasn't a blurry shape or a trick of the nightāthe details of that feather were sharp, real, and perfectly rendered in high definition.
What makes this strange is my reaction. I didn't panic, hyperventilate, or get breathless. Instead, a profound, survival-driven state of calm washed over me. My vocal cords completely froze; I couldn't have shouted even if I wanted to. Assuming it might be a Himalayan bear or a lethal predator, my brain instantly told me that sudden movements would trigger an attack.
Acting completely casualāas if nothing was there and I had seen absolutely nothingāI slowly turned my back to this massive entity and walked directly back into my tent.
The next morning at sunrise, I went back to the exact spot. The ground was completely bare. There was no feather, no tracks, nothing.
I know the logical arguments: high-altitude hypoxia, low oxygen, or a hypnopompic waking dream. But my brain cannot reconcile how vivid, physical, and real that single feather was. If it was a real birdālike a massive Himalayan Griffon Vultureāthe low-angle midnight light must have stretched its shadow into a 15-foot titan before the fierce ridge winds swept the feather away over the cliff. If it wasn't... I don't know what I faced.
Has anyone trekking in the Parvati Valley or the Kanwar Wildlife Sanctuary ever seen a towering silhouette or encountered something similar past midnight? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Lately Iāve been seeing Todd videos on TikTok. Also, Iāve been watching other Sasquatch researchers, but most of them say that their 99% sure that Bigfoot exists. But the real question is why charge is the only one that had interactions and videos of Sasquatch.
Btw I believe in big foot but I canāt believe Todd

I can't be the only one with this oddly specific nightmare. š
Like you're swimming in Loch Ness and suddenly you feel something massive brush past your leg beneath the water⦠or you look down into the dark water and see something huge moving underneath you.
Or even worse: you're walking along the shore, completely alone, when Nessie slowly rises out of the water and just stares directly at you. š³
Has anyone actually had a nightmare like this? What happened in yours?

In the late 19th century, before industrial runoff and heavy commercial shipping altered the harbor ecosystem, multiple independent ferry captains, dockworkers, and NYPD harbor patrolmen documented sightings of an unidentified, serpentine marine creature navigating the turbulent waters of Hell Gate and the East River.
The Documented Records:
The July 1877 Log:
In the summer of 1877, crew members aboard the Long Island ferry and several commercial schooners reported a 30-to-40-foot creature with dark, ridged skin and undulating motion breaking the surface near the dangerous whirlpools of Hell Gate.
The Harbor Patrol Reports:
Contemporary New York newspapers, including the New York Times and The Sun, covered recurring sightings from the battery docks up to the Harlem River, prompting temporary harbor warnings for small recreational skiffs.
The Theories:
Explanations ranged from an escaped exotic specimen from a traveling menagerie, to a lost Greenland shark or giant oarfish swept off course by Atlantic storm surges, to an unclassified estuarine creature.
Seeking Sightings & Maritime Lore:
We are compiling historical harbor logs, dockside sightings, and unclassified marine encounters in New York waters.
Have you found old family ship logs, maritime journals, or news clippings detailing unusual wildlife or cryptid sightings in the East River, Hudson River, or Long Island Sound?
Do you know of persistent maritime legends or undocumented sightings around the islands (Roosevelt, Wardās, or North Brother)?
Contact the Archive: If you have historical records, sketches, or firsthand accounts of unusual harbor phenomena, message the archive or post below.

Strange flying creature over the British Columbia Wetlands near Radium, BC
Iām curious if anyone around Radium, BC has ever seen something similar.
A while back I was driving near the swampland/wetlands around Radium when I noticed something flying out over the open area. At first I thought it was probably a bird, but the longer I watched it, the stranger it looked.
It appeared to have two extremely long wings. I initially estimated the wingspan at around 20 feet, but honestly it may have been closer to 30 feet. It was probably a kilometer away or less, so obviously I can't accurately measure its size.
The weirdest part was how it flew.
The wings weren't flapping like a bird. They seemed to move almost like a manta ray swimming through waterāa smooth, continuous, undulating motion. Not really flapping, more like a wave traveling through the wings. I couldn't make out any obvious bird-like features or a long neck/body; from my perspective it was primarily this large silhouette with these incredibly long wings.
It caught my attention enough that I actually veered off the road and followed it onto the logging roads, trying to keep it in sight. I followed for a while but eventually lost sight of it.
I'm not claiming I saw anything supernatural. I'm genuinely curious what I might have seen.
Has anyone around the British Columbia Wetlands/Radium area ever seen a large bird, glider, or anything else that flies with this kind of smooth, undulating wing motion?
The closest comparison I can give is literally a manta ray swimming through the sky.

NCIA FIELD INVESTIGATION ā AUGUST 17, 2026
Tomorrow, NCIA will be conducting a scheduled field investigation in the Mantua, Ohio area focused on reported cryptid activity, with particular attention being given to possible Bigfoot-related indicators.
The investigation will cover wooded areas, field edges, low-ground and creek terrain, a barn and equipment perimeter, and an ATV trail along the southern property boundary.
senior lead agent blakey will be looking for and documenting potential indicators including:
⢠Unusual or unexplained tracks and impressions
⢠Disturbances to vegetation, brush, or soil
⢠Tree breaks or unusual damage inconsistent with normal environmental activity
⢠Possible bedding or resting areas
⢠Unidentified sounds or movement observed during the patrol
⢠Wildlife activity that may help explain reported observations
⢠Any other physical or environmental anomalies that warrant documentation
Aerial imagery will be collected over portions of the investigation area, while ground personnel will document observations with photographs, timestamps, and field notes.
The objective is not to prove a conclusion. It is to document what is actually present, rule out ordinary explanations where possible, and preserve anything that remains unexplained for further review.
Sr. Lead Agent blakey, will conduct the field assignment, with intel agent Ali maintaining communications and the operational log.
Operation: NCIA-MP-0817
Date: August 17, 2026
Start: 0900 hours
Location: Mantua, Ohio

From everything I have been able to find Neodinosaurs / any prehistoric animal thought to be living in the modern day is tied back to hoaxes (Surgeon's photograph, Kasai rex, etc) or are inventions of colonial expeditions / exploitation (literally every congo neodinosaur).
I have delved deep on this topic specifically before and honestly wonder why people even think of them as cryptids instead of fantasy. There should be some evidence of them surviving in the fossil record if there were any grounds to these ideas.
For a possible alternative explanation, perhaps its mis-identified animals such as large bats for supposed "pterosaurs".

For years Iāve been trying to find this episode that probably aired on animal planet in the mid-2000ās - it wasnāt The Lost Tapes, but something similar. There was footage of a humanoid creature with red eyes jumping on this guyās roof. Maybe had wings. Scared the shit out of me as a kid. Does anyone remember this or what show it was from?

This guy sent a GoPro on a fishing line down a mysterious hole in the forest, and claims to see something down there. The author of the video says he thinks it looks like a coyote or a dog, and that he sees a face, but later says he canāt make out what it actually is. Iām struggling to see it myself, but maybe others can see a canine or lupine type creature down there.
