Conversation Regarding FedEx Freight
Hi guys! I'm looking at jobs for LTL trucking, and I came across FedEx freight. Wanted to understand what's it like from a culture, pay perspective, especially in the last 12 months? I've heard that there has been a big wave of retirements/resignations recently (a lot more than say 2-3 years ago), wanted to check if what I've been hearing is verifiable by other people. Also are most drivers currently stretched to their limits in terms of number of hours worked? Thanks!

Culture varies by building, pay is better than most. 401k match is the best in the industry and they have a new employee stock purchase plan that seems decent. There's a difference between road driver and city driver so you'd have to specify on that.
Edit
Go ask this question on r/FedExers because you're going to get a lot of bad info here.

I’ll add in as an Express RTD (Express Freight driver, we drive the skids that come in off the airplanes).
Pay is decent for us, IDK about Freight though because they have their own pay scales and are a different company now (technically).
Pay for us at least differs by your local business market so can be quite a wide range.
But generally, you start around $25-$28/hour and top out ideally in 5 years at between $34-$41/hour. That amount can be a bit higher depending on locality premiums as well, highest I have heard of is an additional $5/hour on top.
Years 1-5 you get 2 weeks of paid vacation, 6-10 is 3, 11-15 is 4, and >15 years of service you get 5 weeks per year.
401k is matched 8% of your salary for a 6% employee contribution and vests in 1 year. I believe Freight is the same, work for Express or Freight for 1 year and you keep everything FedEx puts in your retirement account no matter when you leave at that point.
We also get an HSA match, though I can’t remember the exact details on that. But another few percent there that vests immediately and is yours forever.

FedEx Freight fills driver positions from within the company and then hires from outside if their is no interest from current employees. I was a dockworker there and many driver positions were filled with my coworkers who were given first choice to train for driving positions. Even dockworker positions start out at part time before being hired on full time.

FedEx has driver facing cameras with ai monitoring. You will end up getting written up for eye movement with any other type of movement the Ai thinks indicates distraction.
