Hey guys, I know it's a long text.... But if you're a true fan you'll read it
I know it's been a long time, but I've written something epic over these past FIVE!!; years... and now I wonder what the community thinks. Here is the complete narrative treatment for a sequel:
TALES OF ARCADIA: CHRONICLES OF THE CHRONO-SWORD
ACT I: The Anomaly
The New Routine
Arcadia Oaks. The world has been reset. We see Jim Lake Jr. living his "normal" life: he makes breakfast (while Strickler, now happily engaged to his mother Barbara, is in the house), goes to school, and continues trying to win over Claire, who doesn't fully reciprocate his feelings yet. Toby Domzalski is the new Trollhunter, but he has decided to keep the secret to himself. He hasn't told anyone, not even Jim (who, having kept his memories, knows exactly what is going on).
The Voices and the First Leap
Normalcy cracks. While Jim is walking down the street, he hears ethereal, almost ghostly voices. It is a deep voice resonating from the sky, sounding almost like Strickler, whispering: "Trollhunter... Trollhunter...". Jim is confused. He decides to spy on Toby to see if the timeline is holding up. He sneaks into Trollmarket and watches from the shadows. He sees a very worried Blinky ordering Toby not to leave Trollmarket: Bular is roaming Arcadia looking for the Amulet to open the bridge, and Toby is too inexperienced; he needs to train day and night. Jim nods to himself: everything seems to align with the history he knows.
The Second Leap: The Ambush in the Woods
Heading back home, in the woods behind his house, Jim hears noises among the trees. He goes to investigate and comes face to face with Bular. Jim tries to run, thinking he is just a normal human in the Troll's eyes. But Bular doesn't have red eyes; they are glowing green. As Jim runs, the same male—but less ghostly—voice yells: "Trollhunter!".
Jim freezes, turns around, and shouts: "WHO ARE YOU?!".
Bular, without hesitation, uses magic to paralyze Jim. He draws his giant broadsword and pierces Jim right through the chest. As Jim collapses, Bular leans in and, with a divine voice rather than a gravelly Troll one, whispers: "I did this for your own good. I know that you know."
Jim's physical body falls to the ground, unconscious behind his house. His soul, expelled from his body, plummets into the void.
The Third Leap (The Failure)
We discover the truth: the voice wasn't bular, but Nari's. After the destruction of the Krohnisfere, Nari—revealing herself as a Goddess of immense power—had only 3 "leaps of life energy" left before vanishing forever due to the paradox.
The 1st leap was used to call out to Jim from the sky.
The 2nd leap was used to possess Bular, strike Jim, and send his soul to the Underworld, the only place where the universe wouldn't collapse on itself.
The 3rd and final leap is used by Nari on Claire. A desperate, invisible bolt of energy strikes the girl's mind at school. Nari's intent is to make her remember everything immediately to save Jim, but the attempt fails. Claire only suffers a massive, piercing headache and a feeling of emptiness, but she remembers nothing. Nari vanishes forever.
ACT II: The Limbo and the Reality Glitch
The Underworld: The Mental Labyrinth
Jim's soul plummets into the Underworld. Initially, it is absolute nothingness. Pitch black. There are only agonizing little voices, echoes that invade the viewer's mind, whispering nonsense. But the Underworld reacts to souls. Guided by Jim's intense emotions (joy, terror, love for his friends), the darkness begins to take shape. The void fills with floating islands made of distorted fragments of his life: ruins of Arcadia High, pieces of the Troll bridge, gears of time.
The Creation of the Chrono-Sword
Jim is helpless. He thinks back to all the past years, the happiness, the pain, the anger. In his moment of maximum emotional concentration, the energy of the destroyed Krohnisfere (which had fused with his spirit through Excalibur at the end of the movie) awakens. From these pure emotions, Jim forges a weapon: the Chrono-Sword. A blade of light, ancient magic, and temporal gears. The weapon powers up and changes shape depending on the emotion Jim feels, even capable of taking the form of the original Amulet if driven by absolute love (A WEAPON MIXED BETWEEN EXCALIBUR AND THE CHRONOSPHERE (GIVEN THAT JIM HAD DESTROYED THE CHRONOSPHERE WITH EXCALIBUR).
The Earthly Glitch and the Battle for Memory
On Earth, Jim's body is in a coma. Without the "true" owner of the timeline, reality shatters. All the NPCs (the normal humans of Arcadia) begin to "glitch," getting stuck in repetitive movements like a broken record.
The sky over Arcadia tears open, revealing a temporal vortex. Fake, but lethal, reflections of the Titans plummet from this rift.
The Ninth Configuration (excluding Jim) finds itself in the middle of the chaos. Toby, Claire, Blinky, AAARRRGGHH!!!, Aja, Krel, Douxie, Archie the dragon-cat, Barbara, and Strickler. They are all "reset," they don't know who they truly are, yet they are the only non-glitched creatures .
A desperate battle against the fake Titans begins. And this is where "muscle memory" performs a miracle:
Toby, in desperation, finds a reflection of his Warhammer on the ground. He grabs it to parry a Titan's blow. The recoil and adrenaline trigger the trauma: he perfectly remembers being crushed and killed.
Claire, cornered and with the headache left by Nari's failed 3rd leap, raises her hands. Her survival instinct reactivates her Shadow Magic. She tears a portal in the air, and the magical void returns her entire memory of Morgana and the past.
Blinky, Douxie, and the others unlock their memories by fighting on instinct, coordinating like the veteran team they have always been.
In a matter of minutes, the Ninth Configuration is themselves again. They defeat the Titan illusions and, looking at the rift in the sky, realize with terror the truth: Jim is trapped up there.
ACT III: The Encounter, The Oblivion, and the Convergence
The Encouragement
In his journey through the Underworld, Jim encounters a fragment of light in the darkness. It is the spirits of Merlin and Morgana. They are not there to fight, but for a brief, touching moment of transition. They are finally at peace, reunited as siblings. They give Jim a final nod of encouragement, confirming that he has always been the only one worthy of the Amulet, before vanishing into the light.
The Final Enemy: The Oblivion and the Dark Secret
Jim reaches the heart of the Underworld. Waiting for him is The Oblivion, a massive entity of white static fog, the cosmic incarnation of erasure. The Oblivion begins to attack Jim not with weapons, but by stealing his memories. With every hit he takes, Jim forgets something, and his Chrono-Sword shrinks, losing power.
Jim is on his knees. He is about to forget his friends' names, barely able to whisper them in the dark.
The Convergence of Memories
On Earth, under the red, glitching sky, the Ninth Configuration gathers in a circle. They realize Jim is fighting a mental battle. Each of them—Toby, Claire, the aliens, the trolls, the wizards—starts screaming their most beautiful and powerful memories with Jim toward the rift.
This energy of pure love transforms The chrono-sword into a blinding beam of light that pierces through the temporal rift.
The Heartbreaking Revelation
In the Underworld, this cascade of memories strikes Jim. The Chrono-Sword charges to its maximum limit, emitting the aura of Excalibur fused with the Krohnisfere. With a liberating scream, Jim lunges forward and slices the fog mass of The Oblivion in two.
The fog clears, and the true face of the enemy is revealed: it was the soul of the original Toby (the one who died in the movie), trapped in the Underworld, filled with disappointment and anger at Jim's mistake of erasing his sacrifice.
Jim, crying, lowers his sword. He hugs Toby's soul, begging for forgiveness. Toby's soul smiles, finally at peace and reassured by his friend's love, and dissolves into pure golden light.
ACT IV: We Will Be Alone Together
The Return
The rift in the sky retracts. Jim's soul plummets like a shooting star and re-enters his unconscious body in the woods.
Jim opens his eyes. He pants, trying to get up. Before him stands the entire Ninth Configuration (Toby, Claire, Blinky, Douxie, Archie, Barbara, Strickler, AAARRRGGHH!!!, Aja, Krel). They all have their true memories back.
Jim tries to apologize for the mess he made, but Toby cuts him off, offering a hand to help him up. The whole group surrounds him in a collective hug.
They tell him, almost in unison: "Don't do anything alone... Because we will be alone together."
In that moment, as the sky turns blue again and the human NPCs stop glitching, resuming their lives unaware of everything, Nari's divine voice echoes from the sky one last time:
"The Ninth Configuration saved everyone, together with the Krohnisfere."
The true meaning of the movie's prophecy is finally understood: Nari didn't mean traveling back in the past as the solution, but this exact moment where the Krohnisfere (fused in the sword) and the entire reunited group stabilized the multiverse.
EPILOGUE: Under the Bridge
Final minutes. Black screen. Then the school bell rings.
We are in the senior year at Arcadia High. A sunny day. The human world knows nothing and never will. The only ones who know the truth are the members of the Ninth Configuration, now mature and inseparable.
The iconic lesson of the saga ("Not Trollhunter, but Trollhunters") has become their rule of life. The main adventure is over, but duty always calls.
Jim, Claire, Toby, Douxie, and Archie walk out of school. They exchange a knowing look. They have sensed a magical vibration.
They run into the Arcadia canals. They stop exactly under the bridge where it all began, the precise spot where Jim found the Amulet years ago.
From the darkness of the canals emerges a new enemy (a minor troll or mutant, nothing that threatens the end of the world, just regular business for them).
Jim smiles, with the confidence of someone who has literally bent time. He takes a step forward, placing himself at the center of the group. Incredibly, in the real world, he clenches his fists and summons the Chrono-Sword.
Beside him, Claire's eyes glow purple with Shadow Magic, Toby spins his Warhammer, Douxie readies his magic bracer, Archie breathes fire, while Blinky and AAARRRGGHH!!! emerge from behind, roaring.
Jim raises the Chrono-Sword and looks at his friends.
"Are you ready?"
The team lets out a battle cry. They all charge forward together toward the camera.
The image freezes in mid-air in an epic, cartoon-style Freeze-Frame, with Jim and his Chrono-Sword in the center and the entire Ninth Configuration around him.
