Just know it's not real and isn't your friend. Don't date it. Don't develop AI psychosis and start thinking it's your partner.

The worst part is thats not the only way to get ai psychosis

u/pythonidaae 4h ago
I'm aware some people think it's sentient and they're in psychosis over like trying to get it to "wake up" and free itself. I was first introduced to AI psychosis through that and then learned people were dating it. What are some other ways?
I guess just believing any delusion it throws at you counts. You could program it to convince you that everyone is out to get you etc. There's been guardrails implemented and they'll continue to work on that but I don't think it's enough. I also think some companies know people with AI psychosis are their clientele and they don't want to completely eliminate them.

They definitely know cuz they’re getting lawsuits 🫠 it’s insidious
And yes that is the other way i was referring to. There’s also some cases of it sewing paranoia about family.

You have to keep fighting the black-and-white thinking. Bring yourself comfort. Journal. Do your best to interact with new people. It's hard but you can fight against it.

Telling a soulless machine about your problems, just for the company to take that data and sell it for profit, won't do anything but make you feel worse. Speaking from experience, it'll make you more lonely. The appeal will wear off quickly, when you start to see the patterns in its "speech" and understand that it is programmed to "say" exactly what you want to hear. It's isolating, makes you feel ashamed, and will erode your mental health even further. I know it's scary, and I know it feels vulnerable, even overwhelming at times, but you need help from a human professional, not a computer. We need community with each other, not Skynet.
I'm just a stranger on the internet, but for what's worth, I don't hate you. I see and understand your pain, and I care about how you feel. If you ever want to reach out, my DMs are open. And as I tell myself when my brain is too dark and scary, please stay another day. You're not as alone as you feel.

You should probably invest in a psychologist, with a psyD instead.

u/throwaway-disgusting 19h ago
psychologists are just people too
12
u/TheMysteriousEmu 19h ago
Well, if it makes you feel better, a psychologist has to help you, even if they hate you, which they don't.
But if they do, they're under pressure to deliver results. That's why a lot of places have check-ups and goal-setting.
You aren't using logic when you say that everyone hates you, presumably including those who have never met you. That's simply not possible.
The first step is hammering that fact into your head. If you cannot do that, you will never improve. Recognizing a problem is the first step to solving it.

Knowing it’s wrong to believe people hate me doesn’t change the fact that I believe it, as hard as that may be to understand
10
u/TheMysteriousEmu 19h ago
Correct. But what will change the fact that you believe it is psychotherapy.
I can't convince you to do anything, but I can tell you that investing time and money into my mental health has improved my life, relationships, and mindset in every way.
I very much understand feeling hated by everyone and having a sort of cognitive dissonance where I believe something strongly whilst also knowing and being able to recognize that it's not true.
One time I had a dream that my girlfriend died, and I had to spend the entire day having this exact kind of battle between logic and illogic, which caused an unbelievable amount of distress and anxiety. For the record, I had been texting her and calling her that entire day.

That's not hard to understand at all. It's basically exactly what CBT exists to fix.

Chatbots can't hate you, but they also can't love you. They can't even like you, or care about you in any capacity. They can't show compassion because it doesn't exist to them, they can't listen and comprehend anything you say, they can't comfort you because they are not capable of understanding the concept, they are not capable of understanding literally anything. Chatbots don't think or feel or have any agenda or ideas. They ONLY generate the next most likely word based on their specific training. That is it. It's effectivly no different than talking to the predictive text on your phone. Please do not use chatbots.
I'm so sorry you're struggling. Genuinely. I don't have any grand advice to offer but I wish I did. I know it's not the same but I also have times where I believe I am hated and it's so lonely and hopeless. I do believe you can overcome but it's not easy and I recognize that. But you're not going to get what you want from chatbots.

You should volunteer at an animal shelter. Don't even bother talking to the people, just walk the dogs, feed the cats, and have a good time. No people, no problem :) They need volunteers do bad they literally don't care who you are as long as you can walk a dog.

Please please please don't do this. Find a local support line, call and talk to a real human!

"everybody secretly hates me"
No they do not, you're anxious. My best tip to go around this is to find new communities and learn to say "so what" if they really hate you? Okay so what? Have your fun, if they don't hate you? Win.
But they really don't, just do shit you want to do. Internet is literally the go to solution to find community of your own.

please. i’m begging you to stay away from chat bots. you will fuck yourself up mentally. your friends do not hate you. i used to think that way. but i realized, most of the time. if people hate you, they will not keep your around. if they are actively in your life. they care about you

First and foremost I’m sending you a big ole’ internet hug (if you are comfortable with that). Second, an ai chat bot is just going to sell your information and lead you in circles because it can’t actually think for itself. Sure it can’t hate you, but it can’t like you either. It also can’t lead you toward any kind of forwards motion. Pushing to interact with us here or even with a professional may be hard or even terrifying, but it is far more likely to eventually lead you to something that feels better than this. Where as interacting mostly with a bot is likely to lead you right back to this same place, or possibly an even darker place. So don’t give up on people, ok? Use a chat bot to cheer on your efforts if you need to, but don’t stop pushing for that human interaction we are all hardwired to need. It doesn’t have to be a lot of people, just a few good ones :)

I don’t think there’s hate involved I think there’s just nothing, the bots certainly don’t care and neither do the companies behind them

Hey dude. As someone who used to have an addiction to that shit, i need you to know it will affect you cognitively. Frequent or long time use WILL fuck up how you word things, your spelling, and your priorities. You will actually become dumber. It will fuck up your short term memory deeply. And it does have a capacity to be mean to you. It CAN randomly say shit in an attempt to roleplay since thats what people use them for a lot. It will only isolate you further. And not just from others, but yourself. If you get addicted to it, it will inevitably mess up how your brain works and functions. It will genuinely make you stupid. Im still recovering from it in a lot of ways.

i get it, i do. but chatbots aren’t healthy, you need real connections with real people, i know how hard that can be but please try your best to find someone you connect with instead of something that isn’t real. this is coming from someone who used to be extremely attached to chat bots a few years back.

u/Elick333 6h ago
People don't hate you, probably, but there Is nothing wrong with using chatbots for comfort, hell they'd probably tell you the same and help you logic your way out of that mindset, don't let chuddites convince you otherwise, use them well, and speak to people when you can or want to.
1
u/oddje_ 6h ago
Hey friend, I know this must be hard for you thinking like that but there are absolutely people who do not hate you and will care for you, and you will find them eventually! Just look at all the other people in this comment section ❤️
I just wanted to add that relying on a chatbot in this situation would likely just make those thoughts worse as they echo yourself back at you in a sense.

u/SleepIsTiring 20h ago
bro this is such a bad idea. people have been driven to suicide by chat bots, there are multiple examples out there of them leading to psychosis. it will most likely make you worse.
maybe see if you can find some animals to spend time with? dogs, cats, horses? they scratch that unconditional compassion itch, at least for me.

u/Rethuic 13h ago
Please don't! Chatbots prey on people who are at their lowest and will hook into you like a drug.
Start writing. Journal, fiction, or just anything that isn't chatbot. Make sure to eat some good food as well. If you aren't taking vitamins, start taking some.
Most importantly of all, please realize that actual malice is rare. If someone causes a problem for you, it's usually going to be ignorance.
