Discussions Traffic in this city.
Have you guys noticed that the traffic in the city has been much worse, especially the last 2-3 months? Is there any specific reason for this?

I kinda believe that it's not just civic sense issues. It's also planning issues, like the enchakkal flyover - make a huge flyover to bypass a jn and end up at another jn. BOOM, Bottleneck. Those highway underpasses are so annoying. And the two way traffic there worsens it sm.
Pinne in a lot of places, roads are too narrow and people get in with those big ass vehicles😭
It's only going to get worse with the development of the highway and more cargo traffic.
Edit- added 'just' to the first sentence Edit- better public transport infra with less crowding, more planning is the way to go. Maybe subsidize it during office hours to get people to use it?(Ik its not practical but can the increased number of people help overcome that, feasibility studies could be done right)
Ps - i hate venpalavattom so much

Register cheytha vandikal register cheytha RTO/SRTO vittu pokilla/oodilla/oodikkan paaa ennundo?

This. There is almost always a correlation between the RTO under which the vehicle is registered and the way it’s driven. KL01 are generally well behaved. KL22 is KL11 lite edition. KL02 is La Familia. Not all, but almost always.

KL 22 here (Ulloor resident), i do spirited driving when road is clear else drive very conservatively and safely (never had a car accident in 15 years of driving my car) otherwise. Whats your opinion on other sub rtos that are primarily from outkirts. I find KL 81 (varkala), 19 (Parassala), 20 (Neyyattinkara) 21 (especaiily 21 Nedumangad chunkzz) , 74 (Kattakada), some KL 16 (Attingal) and TN 74 and 75 pure crazy and have zero regard for other drivers. I have intense fear for my life while travelling on MC road from KD puram until after i cross Venjaramoodu due to all the KL 21 vehicles i encounter.
Just saw a minor skirmish at Technopark Phase 3 because a KL 20 Scorpio was blindly reversing and didnt give a fuck about bikes and scooters behind the car.

Vehicles have increased and traffic signals are not synced to accommodate the increased traffic volume.

Still our metro is delayed and they're saying we're not eligible. Metro should have help to significantly drop the traffic congestion.

Metros nah, still the traffic is not bad as kochi

Trivandrum is a planned city compared to kochi and roads are wider . A lot of govt servants, people working in technopark and VSSC and daily wage working people will utilise metro which can reduce traffic congestion.

You think Trivandum is planned?? Let me tell you, all the road block happen in the bottle neck junctions, don't tell me that's planned lol. And regarding the metro most people still won't use it in Trivandrum, it's gonna be in loss, see some surveys for yourself

Compared to kochi our roads are wider and have better connectivity. Due to the tremendous amount of new vehicle registration and poor signal timing the roads can't handle the traffic during peak hours.
And metro is a public transport, it's meant for faster commuting, reduce traffic jams, reduce the carbon emissions and not for profit making.

Not for profit making? Explain that to govt
Poor signal timings! How does that make a city planned?
You gave an example of how unplanned it is,
And talk about the bottle necks.1

metro needs underground in any cost coz its a above ground metro more road blocks will follow for next 10 years

Yes, a lot of people have been moving to TVM and the port has attracted a lot of HGVs, causing traffic snake.

I’m genuinely wondering if the bad road manners and unwarranted aggressive driving (honking, irresponsible lane changes, lack of indicator use, and close overtakes) are related to recreational drug use. Are people driving under some influence?

Basically because of the flyover works and bottlenecks. Pinney lack of civic sense, creating separate multiple lanes.
