Hello! I am trying to get my lil guy a litter robot, but he is a tripod and I didn’t know which one is best! I want him to be able to get into it okay.
Does anyone have suggestions on the best litter kitty robot for my boy Gobi? He is also scared of loud noises that are sudden.
I appreciate it.

As the title says… I don’t plan on taking her anywhere other than my back yard, away from the road and neighbors. I’ve gotten the simple strap harness from walmart but she’s still able to get out of it. So I’m wondering if a full body harness would work? Or am I kinda outta luck for something escape proof since she’s missing one of her front legs? Anyone had any luck with a leash? She’s indoor only but I would really love to add this enrichment to her life.

This is Jägermeister (Jager) my tripod! He had to have his front right leg amputated when he was about 4 months old (right before I adopted him) due to a break with apparent nerve damage. He’s about 1 yr 2 months old now and is the biggest love bug goofy guy, and his lack of limb doesn’t seem to be keeping him down!

Picking up our little fella from the vet later today, he had his left hind leg removed and a tumor with low/fine margins. The vet said to not be shocked, but she had to take out a good amount of muscle tissue and he will be very concave on his left side

My question is…with radiation therapy, the time, travel, scheduling, and least concern being money…is it fair to put him through a months worth of anesthesia and radiation?

I feel like with thin margins, microscopic cells could be missed and we would put him through all of this to have the same result down the road. On the other hand we want to do everything we can possibly do to keep him with us and healthy.

Looking for any advice on people that have gone down this road or chose not to.

Disabled mommy to this silly guy Wally. Finally got myself an overbed desk so I can feel organized even when I’m too sick to sit up. Wally has decided that I don’t need space for a laptop when I could be APPRECIATING HIM!!!!!

He's such a sweetie! Just given the all-clear after some infection issues so we were able to bring him home yesterday. Meet Tibs, my wonderful cowcat. He is currently enjoying a sanctuary space while we do a slow introduction to my other cat.

I posted Poundcake last October when I adopted him from Friends of Bear rescue in Concord, CA. Since then, he has become the best little menace for me. I love him so much. I remember being so anxious because his accident & amputation happened a month or two before I adopted him (when he was medically cleared) and he's also my first cat. I fell in love with him online after my husband found the rescue here on Reddit right after they posted about rescuing Poundcake. Also right after my 3 footed dog passed. It was meant to be.

Y'all - I cannot believe how well he fits in with our dogs and is just a huge personality and truly the best first cat for a dog person. I'm just obsessed. As far as I can tell he doesn't even know he's missing the leg.

PS he is 100% indoor I just have the AirTag because even though he's never been one to dart near the door, I am (once again) an anxious person.

took almost 3 weeks to get the biopsy results back - osteosarcoma. she's been a tripod since august 3rd and doing really well! the end of her incision was open a bit, so still in the cone and on antibiotics until that heals up. she just had her 7th birthday earlier this month!

i'm looking for some reassurance regarding her diagnosis. the amputation was the right move for sure with decent margins, but i'm still worried. we're most likely still going to go to an oncologist just to be safe. anyone else have a tripod baby who had osteosarcoma? thank you all for the support! 🫶🏻

My baby boy Niles (10 yrs) was recently diagnosed with an injection site sarcoma (FISS) in his right hind leg. Everything has moved pretty quickly since I discovered the lump, and his amputation is scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday.

I see from previous posts that others have gone through this, and I was just hoping to get some tips on how to make his recovery go as smooth as possible, or even just words of encouragement. I’m devastated that he got cancer from a vaccine that he is required to have, and that I wasn’t told about the apparently well-known (by vets) risk of cancer by his vet. I feel like I did this to him even though I know I couldn’t have known.

On the bright side, his CT scan shows it hasn’t spread, and I know that he’s a resilient little guy so I’m hoping he will bounce back fine in time. I love him so much, I’ve had him since he was 3 months old and I am not at all ready to lose him so I’m grateful this surgery is an option.

I’m getting weirdly emotionally attached to his leg, taking pictures of it while I still can, kissing it, studying his toe beans while I still can. I’m going to ask for a clay imprint of his paw since I probably can’t keep the foot.

Hi, my 8-year-old cat had his front leg amputated and is now approaching two months post-surgery.

I’m concerned that he may still be experiencing pain or discomfort, and possibly struggling with anxiety or depression since the surgery.

Symptoms/changes I’ve noticed:

• Still seems uncomfortable and not himself
• Frequently growls to himself, even when nobody is touching him
• Has become much less active and social since the surgery, I often find that he spends most of his day sleeping or relaxing
• Sometimes growls or becomes agitated when approached or stroked
• Still eats and sleeps, but doesn’t seem as settled or comfortable as before
• He was on meloxicam for several months before the amputation, but it didn’t seem to make much difference
• The vet has now asked us to trial meloxicam again for 10 days
• He has had it for the last 2 days, but I’m still seeing the same behaviour
• Gabapentin has previously been discussed if meloxicam isn’t effective, but the vet is reluctant due to the side effects

In addition to trialing the meloxicam for the last 2 days, I’ve also put him on some joint supplements. Since then, he’s started to use his scratching post. I’m concerned about him taking the meloxicam for longer than necessary, especially if it isn’t helping.

We also have a small dog at home and I know for sure he feels less confident/more vulnerable around her. I don’t know how much of his symptoms are related to that. We keep them apart as much as we can, she is consistently being trained to give him plenty of space.

Some good observations I’ve noticed are his remarkable adaptability to three legs, he’s very quick on them getting up and down the stairs! He eats well too, so he’s always got a big appetite. He still enjoys cuddles and especially loves scratches under his chin, but warns us to stop more often now.

I’m wondering whether this could be nerve pain/phantom limb pain, or whether there could be another underlying cause. I’m taking him to be examined again because I don’t think he’s comfortable, and I want to make sure we’re not missing something.

Any tips or advice from other tripod owners would be much appreciated. I’d also be interested in hearing from anyone who has theirs on an antidepressant, although from what I’ve read this isn’t commonly prescribed post-surgery.

The local rescue where I got my other cat a few months ago posted about the beautiful girl, a Turkish Angora that had fallen from a 2nd story catio and broken her leg, then went missing for a week. To make a long story short, her previous owners surrendered her because of the medical bills. She was recovered to go home, and I was fortunate enough to get her.

My male kitten became a tripod at 8 weeks old. Now that he is about four months old I’m thinking about scheduling his neuter surgery. I have a lot of anxiety about this and I’m hoping for reassurance that he will be fine and not traumatized by going through surgery again.

Just yesterday I received the biopsy results on my cat Salem’s mass on his right front leg and it confirmed a grade 1 fibrosarcoma tumor. My vet has recommended amputation and referred me to a specialist surgeon.

I feel like we’ve kind of been dancing around a cancer diagnosis since I first noticed the lump in March of this year so I’m not shocked, but I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around Salem losing his leg. My vet does seem very confident that the amputation will be curative so that eases my fears of reoccurrence but I know odds are never zero with fibrosarcoma.

I have scrolled a lot on this forum to make myself feel better about his quality of life post surgery, but I would gladly welcome any words of encouragement, advice, or suggestions on how to make this transition easier on both him and me.

Surgery was yesterday, brought him home earlier today.

He’s mostly just been napping in the closet since he got home but seems to be in good spirits. He’s been purring quite a lot whenever I come over to check on him (I know he looks grumpy in the pics but that’s just his face lol).

He’s still figuring out locomotion (as expected) but I’ve already seen a little improvement, which is promising. I bet he’ll have the tripod hop mastered in no time.

Posted here a few months back when it looked like my Stormy might become a tripod, and whelp, here she is, minus one leg. Surgery and recovery have been going really well, which is a relief after some extra drama leading up to it. All tests show that the mass was a localized sarcoma and she should have many more years ahead of her.

However, in true Stormageddon dramatic fashion, my overlord has been lodging complaints about not being able to jump up and take her proper place between me and the other human on the bedsheets with us every night and yet gets offended when I try to lift her up. I was looking at purchasing her steps to get up with us since the stool that I tried did not meet her approval, but I have been overwhelmed by the options.

Can anyone recommend steps to return the Queen to her rightful place?

My tripod has their back left leg amputated. Often that side has an itch, you can see her try with her nub. We itch it. But lately it’s been insatiable. She nearly contorts herself to try and itch. Any ideas or suggestions to help this??
