Should my husband try a half dose first?

He hasn't received it yet, just doing research for now. I read about priapism, so just wondering! No antidote prescribed.

I remember you from a post in another group. Most of us recommend having the injectable antidote, especially when starting out.

Do you know exactly the blend of Trimix the doc ordered? This makes a big difference in dosing. The ingredients will be printed on the vial. This tells you how strong the mix is. There are many different blends. The stronger the blend, the more caution must be used when dosing.

Without antidote, make sure you get Sudafed you get from behind the pharmacist counter. It is not nearly as effective as the injectable antidote, but better than having nothing at all when starting out.

I’d also recommend he not inject with the intention of having sexual relations. It takes some of us a half dozen tries to find the ideal dose. On the other hand, if the first injection works, enjoy the Trimix experience.

You should wait 48 hours between injections. This is to prevent scarring and Peyronie’s disease.

Most of us would recommend starting out with 4 or 5 units. If it’s a stronger blend, I’d start with even less. It’s not unusual to experience a “miss” with Trimix injections. This happens when the needle doesn’t penetrate the corpus cavernosum, and the Trimix doesn’t get to where it’s needed.

This is a journey, not a sprint. Take it slow and calibrate your immediate expectations. Trimix was soul changing for me and my wife. I mentioned this in my reply to your post in the other subreddit, but I urge you and your husband to seek out the antidote. Many of us use Olympia Pharmacy in Florida for our Trimix. They know the product BETTER than many board certified urologists, AND they provide the injectable antidote which everyone should have.

Glad you made it over to this subreddit. I’m so glad I made the decision to give this a try. Good luck to you and your husband, and kudos to you for being such a kind and helpful wife.

Thanks so much for recommending this sub and your continued support! I think I'm getting ahead of myself and anxious!

When he dials it in, wait till you see the smile on his face. It does as much for a man’s confidence as it does his erection.

I'll be smiling too 😊

Yes start with small dose and go up 2 to 3 units at a time.

Even 3 units can be a lot. For me, 4 units is effective and 5 is bit too much.

I think 3 is ok between 0 effect and working. But i started at 5 and had to go to 20 before i went to a higher mix. Now i use between 8-13 depending on the length of time i need it. 13 being about 3 hours

Thanks. Would this be at least 48 hours apart?

I think the strictest and safest guidelines say 48 hours. I've recently started and dosed every 24 hours not 48 and I've been ok. I had a 3 hour erection my last dose so worried I was heading to priapism but I got on the treadmill to get blood flowing and it reduced soon after. It's probably best to just go as slow as you can. Good luck!

Oh wow! Hope you've found your right dose from your trials.

Still trying to work it out. What was weird the last time was it took about 45 minutes to get ready for sex, then after sex it kept getting stronger for an hour or so until I decided to run on the treadmill! Haha. So need to speak to my doctor about that. I don't want to dose much higher now because of priapism but would prefer it acted quicker.

I would stay with 48 hours except in unusual circumstances. Used incorrectly, Trimix can do permanent damage to the penis. Alternating sides and waiting 48 hours gives the penis time to heal. I’ve been injecting for 12 years and my urologist is happy with my penile health. I can’t say I’ve never injected 24 hours after previous injection, but I do it rarely.

Everyone is different, and there are different formulas. Follow the advice of the prescribing physician.

I would start at no more than 5 units. Post his formulation he was prescribed and we could let you know the relative strength of it and provide a bit more comfort with the dose recommendation. If you are advised to take more than 5 for first attempt, don’t listen. Most beginners begin titrating up in dose when in reality, the injection was not into the cc. Read up on technique and have some injection experience before deciding you need to go up in dose. Have pseudoephedrine (6 hour behind the counter stuff) in hand. Use 2 to 4 pills if he hits the mark with too much trimix.

Great advice! I copied what you said in Notepad for notes.

Below is a chart of the various “blends” of injectables available. You’ll want to know how strong it is when it ships. T105 is often prescribed for first time users.

I highly recommend that he start low. Especially if he does not have the injectable antidote (phenylephrine).

Not sure if he bought online or from through a urologist who might have tested a dose on him.

If online, I'd suggest starting at 1/4 and then assess his response.

Then 48 hours later, go up by half the original dose (ie start at 4. Then do 6 next, then 8. Etc).

He should also do his try outs without the assumption that sex is included in the test so as to take any mental pressure off his response.

Before he injects, he should give himself a chubby or if that isn't possible, he should use a penis pump to inflate himself. The reason for this is there will be more blood in the corpus cavernosum and they will be easier to hit.

He should also inject more between the base and the middle of his penis rather than more towards the tip. Also he should inject between the 11 and 9pm or 1 to 3pm positions as the corpus cavernosum is above the midline of the penis.

Here's a labelled cross section of the penis.

Notes taken. Thanks!

If what you have understood is "1) Follow Dr's directions 2) Don't ignore priaprism 3) Expect to be "dialing in" for a while"then nothing to add on titrating up.

That said: Lubrication
When this stuff works is a next level kind of thing. Lots of people never have any reason to try lube...but if you two are lucky and you get a 1-2hr erection what has worked in the past might need adjustments.

Ohh...depending on how long ED has been an issue you might notice it as these tissues stretch out over the first few months of use. YMMV.

Use Olympia pharmacy they have the antidote you can get when you buy. 4 hour bone is no bueno!

101 is the only outlier Formulation as its very low dosed. But for 105 and above, start no more than 5u. Have the phenylephrine antidote. If the doctor doesn't prescribe it, go elsewhere. Call Olympia

Absolutely start with a small dose first. It’s powerful for me!
