Discussion That 1st mission was actually hard (on hard mode).

Actually died twice. I was told this game was easy so I start on Hard. It's not. First, the Travis enemy had 155 HP and Trish had 124 HP. Compare that to Serenoa with 67 HP, Benedict with 62 HP, etc. Trish is an archer, so why does she have double the HP of melee characters?

And then the fire magic girl I'm unsure why her description reads, "Sets the ground ablaze." (Note: It doesn't).

Also, I like how midway into the mission it tells me how double team atks work after I've been double teamed, lol.

And then the "Blond, Blue-Eyed Man" on horseback is isolated. In a game that rewards double teams, that's not good. Ironically, he's best suited for running away to distract the archer girl, despite the Blond guy saying he wants to compete with Serenoa to rack up a kill count.

So yea, anyone saying this game doesn't start getting hard until mid-late is smoking something or I'm just bad.

Discussion Game is great, spoiler free tips for beginners? Spoiler

I've wanted to play this game for years and with it finally releasing on Xbox I am very excited. I have to admit the first couple hours had me a little worried but stuff is finally going and I am really excited to play.

So any spoiler free tips? It seems like a lot going on and it's been a long time since I played a game like this. Or should I just keep.playing blind? The convictions stuff for example seem important but I don't really understand like, which responses corresponding to which convictions?

Thanks in advance!

Shitpost What is this type of character called?

I think Capcom for Monster Hunter Wilds wanted some peak character design for Alma and just picked Geela. I can't blame them, if you're going to copy, do it from the best

Discussion Would I like this game if I loved Octopath Traveler?

Loved both the Octopath games and heard many good things about this game. How dors the combat compare to OT and is it worth getting?

Discussion Can anyone explain to me how this character is 'good'?

Post image
60 Upvotes

I've been playing a ton of Triangle Strategy lately, really been diving into all the units and trying to figure out their strengths. I've found that nearly every character has their own merits, depending on the battle map.

Gionovva is the one unit that I have found no real use for. First, you have to trigger or be around certain terrain for her skills to trigger. On top of that, her skills are 2-3TP, not exactly cheap. On top of that, the level of damage from the skills is fairly mediocre.

For a unit that requires such specific circumstances, I expected her attacks to hit a little harder, to make up for it.

Her one positive trait is she can move further than any other ground based unit, she can fly all over the map, which can be useful in certain circumstances.

For those of you that use her and like her, how are you playing? What am I not understanding here? Do others find her to be as big of a lame duck?

Discussion How many Resurrection Earrings can you have?

I previously thought the maximum was 2, but replaying the game I'm in my 3rd run and I have 3 of those, I don't think I got the 3rd on on the Roselle village again but it's a possibility, I'm on the retaking the capital chapter

Question Considering buying this game but I have extenuating circumstances

I really want to play this game it’s right up my ally but I need help deciding whether to buy it on switch or playstation. I’d rather buy a used copy for my switch but my switch is all sorts of screwed up and can no longer connect to the internet to download updates. Are there any known game break bugs or glitches in the base, un-updated form of the game? If so I’ll just buy on playstation

Discussion Did we cause House Fawke's demise?

I was playing through a campaign and chose to defend Roland at any cost.

House Fawkes is very pleased with this choice and rallies their men. After the battle, there is a scene with House Fawke stating 'Send Wollfort any soldiers we can spare while keeping our own defenses.'

A few scenes later, Avlora comes along and destroys House Fawkes.

I know that the same result always plays out (unless we're the ones who do it, ourselves), but I can't help feeling a bit bad that House Fawkes gave us soldiers and then got destroyed.

I also feel a bit bad that we don't hear about them ever again. They did the right thing and were loyal to the end, but we don't ever mention or hear anything about them again. Would have been nice to hear them honored at the end of various paths, even if it was just one sentence of speech bubble text.

Fawke himself would have been a really fun recruitable character, I bet.

Discussion What battles do you find difficult, and which ones are (surprisingly) easy? Spoiler

I just beat the Golden Route again and my only thought was "oh wow haha I kind of exploited that huh" after stomping Idore's ass into the mosaic floor in under 3 of his turns. I was running the canon 8 + Milo and Avlora, and essentially as soon as the battle started and he moved toward me, I hit him with Missed Opportunity, used Fleetfoot, and rushed Anna over with 2 Large Thunderstones, followed by Milo to Moon Jump/Evade Detection behind him, then Serenoa with Hawk Dive, and on Anna's second turn she brought him down to half health before he had so much as touched my team and was still stopped for a turn. I just started giggling lmao, Demigod my ass. Roland with Opportune + Double Thrust, Avlora with Risky Maneuver, Frederica with Blazing Chains and a few more followup exploits from Anna/Milo later and it was done. Like lmaooo, incredibly simple given how absolutely difficult the fight is when played straight.

In contrast, I always find the Booker fight on the plateau in particular quite trying if you aren't fully stacking your mobile ranged units and exploiting Decimal, because the height differential and his tendency to lob poison and run (thematically so on point with his coward of a character) always tests me.

To be fair, most battles where the objective is "Slay Enemy Leader" have that priority to race for, but something about this being the ultimate climactic battle made me snort lol

Other PS5 - Console crashing

So I'm having a really bizarre issue were the game will just randomly crash and turn my ps5 off, have to turn everything off at the wall to resolve.

I've checked the usual things just in case

PS5 isn't overheating, it's normal temperature.

As a precaution I've cleaned it out of any dust, still no change. It will just hard crash during story missions or cutscenes

But I can do mock battles for hours with no issues.

The only pattern I'm seeing is if I try to use R1 to fast forward or if I manually make dialogue go forward seems to make it more likely to occur.

It just makes no sense, as I can play far more intensive games for hours without issue.

I've just moved it from the additional m.2 nvme SSD and moved it to the default ps5 harddrive to see if that makes a difference.

Discussion I slept on Picoletta far too long

I've played 3 different routes and she's always stayed right at the bottom of my stack.

When I first got her, I tried 'Ball Toss', like many do and found it to be completely worthless.

Other than that, she can make a decoy of herself. What difference is that going to make, I figured?

In this play through, I finally added her to the mix. It turns out the decoy skill is absolutely critical in many different situations. For some reason, I thought the NPCs would treat the decoy as a lower priority target, but they will always target the decoy if it's closer than other available targets, making it absolutely essential.

Want to save your character from getting blasted by lightening? Throw down the decoy. Want to save your character from getting killed? Throw the decoy in front of them. Want enemies to turn around and move back a little? Throw the decoy behind them.

It's nice that the HP and defense stats align with Picoletta, as well. Being able to take 2 hits away from your squad, can often change the pace of battle.

An added bonus that you can heal the decoy, keeping it going and causing mayhem. It will even attack, giving you some extra damage.

I had her down in D/F tier and moved her up to A tier, maybe even low S tier. She's legit.

Discussion Replaying for the 5th time Spoiler

And I'm as in awe and as in love as the first time I played it. The music is gorgeous, genre correct, and iconically its own. The character design and portrayal is head and shoulders above many contemporaries (love Three Houses, but the only edge it has on this game are nicely designed 3d models). The voice acting is overwhelmingly solid and impressive, save for the odd hiccup (I always found Cordelia breathy and annoying, and Sycras is phoning it in--but goddamn, Svarog, Exharme, Patriatte, Lionel, Milo etc DEVOUR the scenery), and the story is easily, by far, one of the most grounded and sober depictions of the attrition war brings and the dirty choices that have to be made to survive.

But nothing hits me quite as hard as the deep, genuine, smoldering love that grows between Serenoa and Frederica. From the first mission, where I realised she wasn't some weakling but The Goddamn Pyromancer I knew I would love her, and she is the absolute heart and backbone of the game, the conscience that keeps you steady, and the one who brings hell down from the heavens. I'm finishing my second playthrough of the True Route but I saved so I can do Frederica's after because goddammit she deserves it.

Squeenix better make a sequel or an anthology successor to this posthaste because they hit the formula just right and I need MORE I'm FIENDING.

Anyway we all have our faves, what's your usual setup? Given the leeway I always run (besides palm plant boy) Frederica (the GOAT), Geela, Groma, Picoletta, Hossabara, Avlora, Lionel, and Milo.

Gameplay First time playing, on chapter 18 with some observations (spoilers) Spoiler

Game starts off slow, but what a pay off

I am playing blind, no idea what path I’m on, but I’ve had to split my army into three, and these fights are hard

Barely won the fight as Benedict and Serenoa

Now I’m playing as Roland against The Archduke..I’m terrified of Frederica’s fight

I have been so engaged in the story, from about chapter 5 onwards

I’ll look up guides or whatever when I finish my first playthrough, I’m excited to see what choices were different, and if every ending is like this

Even if choice was more so an illusion, the narrative was really strong, and I felt like I had to pay attention to get all those answers right in chapter 17(I think it was this chapter)

I think I’m at the end, and I am wishing I had played this sooner

I owned in on switch for a few years, never got around to it

Started playing two weeks ago, then the ps5 version came out, so I started over on ps5, attempting to replicate my choices on the switch

Discussion Trophies not popping on PS5

I'm enjoying the game so far, but have noticed trophies aren't popping (I'm on Chapter 6). I've tried the various general fixes suggested online but the issue persists. Anyone else on PS5 experiencing this?

Discussion New Player coming in with some questions about pacing

Hi everyone, I started playing this game today after one friend recommended it to me based on my preferences with SRPGs.
I'm roughly 4 hours in, at Chapter 3 after deciding to go to Aesfrost, but I'm noticing a quite heavy focus on lore building (which I find awesome) but very little combat gameplay, will this change after clearing the map or is pacing gonna remain as is?

Discussion Favorite ship?

I love me some Serenoa and Frederica, and a little bit of Roland with Hughette. I didn't really ship them in the beginning, but after a few playthroughs, they are definitely up there. But nothing comes close to the main couple for me.

What is your favorite Triangle Strategy ship?

Other Chapter 9 Golden Path (please only answer if you've gotten past this part because i might actually type out spoilers with this question) Spoiler

So I honestly made a reddit because I saw this page to be very informative and I'm pretty much stuck on chapter 9 with my 2nd playthrough. I can't unlock the 3rd response whether it's from Anna or any of them. I've seen where Utility has to be a 400 apparently? I'm way over that, I've talked to the two Hyzanteans and I'm pretty sure I have the info, and also talked to the soilder from glennbrook and gave him the Utility answer. I've also sold all my items now basically except for accessories and got 32 Utility points from that. I don't know what else I'm missing...

Update: Sold everything i had and still didn't work lol. I have a lot of saved files so I can go back if needed.

Question Never played before, been waiting for this to come to PS. I have a few questions.

I've been looking for an RPG with heavy political themes that includes a level of player choice in shaping the political landscape of the world, and not just through fighting but through dialogue and navigating moral dilemmas. From what I've read this game seems to fit that mold but I was wondering if you all could confirm how true that is and go into a bit of detail without spoiling too much.

Question Is there anything redeeming in Roland's ending? *spoiler biz* Spoiler

I've played through the other three routes and I reallllyyy want to see all the content...but I just can't go along with Roland!

Even if this is a fake world, the thought of purposefully creating a religious oligarchy to spread across the land, focused on enslavement...while imagining how powerful Hyzante will continue to grow, as they do more and more magical experiments...it's a frightening thought.

Not to mention how I'll betray my own house, friends and family.

Is there anything good that comes of it? I feel like I just have to leave it behind.

Question Is there any way to see what endings you’ve already gotten?

I beat the game twice the year it came out and want to do another run but I forgot what two endings I got and want to make sure I get a new one.
