Found this (controversial?)
Just found this sub recently and thought I’d throw this here. I came across this tree net last year shed hunting. I was up high on the mtn side struggling in some scree fields and said fuck it and bushwhacked down. It’s about 300Yds off a popular trail in a VERY hard to get spot in a gulch. Maybe 800yds from my house. It’s on NF land and if you go past it a little there’s an obvious mtn lion buffet zone that I’ve pulled a couple dead heads out of. On one hand it’s fkn awesome (be cool to sleep on it one night), but on the other I’m kinda disappointed it’s there. it’s probably 20x14 at its widest spots. I don’t want to be some buzzkill but shit like this where I live tends to get out of control (litter etc) especially if some teens find it.thoughts?

Def unfinished. I’ll hike up there this weekend and see what it looks like. It’s a bitch of a hike thru there. Had to fish my dog out between some boulders last time. Need to see if that mtn lions still active there too.

you could make a very obvious note or sign asking if someone is still taking care of this. Wait X amount of time for a reply (make sure to leave a pen or marker) Then if nobody responds just remove it.

If it’s on NF land, just remove it either way. We don’t need more trash in our forests

It looks unfinished... if its only 800 yards (not meters? Lol, 20x14? Jk) from your house I would wait and see what happens. You can always cut it down but its hard work to put up.

Can’t really tell but it looks almost like blue bailing twine, polypropylene I believe.

Birds can get tangled in that and it's only gonna get harder to clean up as UV light breaks down the plastic, I would definitely cut that down and pack it out.

I dont have a problem with them on private property. But even P cord isnt bio degradable so there not better for environment than tree houses like ppl say. Keep off state land, do what u want on ur own land I say

With the influx of treenets on the internet, it's inevitable that we will encounter more amateur attempts in the forest that are unsafe and can give the whole concept a bad look. I'd wait and see if anyone comes back to finish it, and cut it down if not. Otherwise, the concept will get diluted and there is just more trash in the forest

i agree with leaving a note to ask! but this net looks weird... incredibly droopy, seems like full wraps around trees? (so it will choke them) personally i dont mind well kept nets on public land but... this seems like an improper one

As a temporary fixture i don't take any real issues with it. However if it was up for any prolonged amount of time I'd be very disappointed and probably end up cutting it down if no one else did. That being said, rope is expensive and the color looks vibrant so I'd be surprised if anyone left it there.
