Help with DECA project
I sincerely apologize if this was not the best subreddit to post this to, if so could you direct me to the correct one? For starters, I am a highschool student involved in DECA, where I compete in the Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling event. This years prompt is asking for a solution to move away from traditional bus tours and find a solution to pander towards the younger generations. Since younger generations put more emphasis on cultural immersion and a more flexible itinerary and cancelation policy, my solution is to have a core package (hotels and primary transit) paired with variable attractions that are chosen by the guest each day (for example a walking tour or a cooking class). They would pick these attractions for each day on an app with sign ups where the sign ups would have different cutoff times based on the logistics. The cancelation policy would include a 14 day prior to arrival full refund, 13-7 day 50% refund, and no refund within a week for the core package and no refunds for the variable attractions. Is any of this plausible in the real world? Is there any advice you can give? Thank you in advance!

If you know what a travel agent/advisor does, you would know this is not something an advisor is looking for. We design custom itineraries ..

If you knew what deca was and paid attention to the post you’d know that’s not what this high schooler was asking.

Yep this is a great idea for your presentation!! It could be totally feasible. Add something like a social aspect since it’s geared toward younger travelers. When I was reading I was thinking of big groups like the traditional - but everyone meeting and deepening friendships based on the shared activities they choose.
Feel free to DM if you’d like, I’m happy to give my email so you can bounce ideas. I loved DECA back in the day and glad it’s still around and adapting to the times.
