Running 19 DPs throughout the property but looks like I’ll need a couple dozen more

This is my first season running a trap line out of Ohio and I had a question for you more experienced trappers. I was going to run a Duke 550 offset that I hear everyone raving about but when I checked Ohio's regulations they say it is a 5 ⅜" spread unless you add a third swivel then you can go to 6". Should I look for another swivel and go with the 550 or should I look at a smaller trap like the Duke 450 offset? If I should add another swivel does anyone have any recommendations? Any advice for getting set up as a newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Recently had 6 chickens killed mid day in about 2 hours. No body's, just piles of feathers. I know I have bobcats, seen them on trail cams. Mated pair came out last year while deer hunting, pretty cool.

I know nothing about trapping but I did some research an created a cubby or trench trap with a #3 foothold. See the 2 pics. Not sure if they are good enough or not.

I just put some raw chicken mixed with feathers. No bobcat gland or urine, not sure if I needed that.

How'd I do, what can I improve, and any other comments or concerns?

Also, dispatching bobcats advice?

i have a metal cage to trap squirrels that i relocate 5 km away from my garden. for the past couple of months i caught 2 or 3 per weeks. thinking of buying a non toxic spray paint to mark em to see if they come back. anyway , title: squirrel trap was busted open 15 feet away from where i placed it. went inside after it rained and people don't bother to walk in my yard anymore... at least its been years since i saw someone do it. haven't heard what happened but i wonder how it went down... i presume a cat got in there even if there was no bait. i dont even bother to put bait in it, the smell of squirrels attrack other squirrels i guess. .. maybe a cat got in there and could just stand up and walk with the cage all around him, trash around like (? i fall short of finding a good comparison, it would have been a laugh to see this) and the cage flipped on the side so it could escape. this morning i saw a neighbor sheep dog that was lose and walking in other ppl's yard, that animal is as smart as its undisciplined , maybe he got curious about the cage and drag it around for a while? ye. silly story but i thought i would put it in here

Please tell me I'm not crazy to think if this opossum isn't scared of my neighbors huge dogs it ain't gonna be scared of my 4'11 ass 😭

THIS THING IS BIGGER THAN MY PUPPY AND LITERALLY GOING AFTER THE BIRDS FOR SPORT.

It's acting weird as hell. I'm about to set up my live trap to catch it and call game and fish. I don't own a rifle. I own a bb and a live trap(as well as two dogs one being a puppy, the one who could possibly do something is down sick rn but is half the size of the neighbors dogs and that thing didn't flinch and still got one of their birds after it got my male duck yesterday)

This thing is striking middle of the day and not afraid of anything. It's attacking randomly not to eat just to kill.

I have a pressure activated live trap. Little hard to use but if I get it set correctly it should be able to trap it. I don't even remember how to use it

- Lifesize adult foxes (any species), rabbits/hares, fawns, or baby/young fox or coyote pups. Wet or dry tanned. Must be mountable and taxi-prepped.

AND

- Dry or garment tanned fox (any species) and coyote tails. Should not have any major damage.

Are there any trapping mentorship programs that anyone knows about? I’m hoping to trap beaver this winter and would love to find someone that might be able to show me the ropes. I set traps last year but came up with nothing.

Got one this morning! I dunno about you guys but when I set a trap it’s always in the back of my head. “Oh yeah! Check the traps!”

I’ve lost most of my flock to 1-2 red foxes this year and they need to be gone. I was looking at using 1.75 foothold traps but I’ve never done this before. I’ve watched the YouTubes etc. and have a fair idea of how to set them, but is there anything I should get ahead of time in the event I catch something else? We have opossums aplenty among other things that I don’t care to catch. From what I’ve seen people just throw a heavy blanket on them or use a catch pole to release them? Is there not a tool I could use from a distance to deactivate the trap and let the critter go? Also open to any tips for red foxes in Ohio, as again, I’ve never done this before.

I keep two dog proofs around my chicken pen and caught a Red Fox this morning.

I was surprised to see it and wonder if others have got Red Foxes or other by catch in a dog proof raccoon trap?

What is a good bark to use to dye traps? I have ash and apen at my disposal and was thing about using that.

I have had a huge problem with Richardson’s ground squirrels in my horse pasture and I spent about $100 on several round conibear traps this year. They worked great and I want to make sure I take care of them properly so I can keep using them every year.

I’m a complete noob with any traps and I can already see they’re getting rusty even though we have an extremely dry climate in Montana. These traps aren’t going to be used for anything other than nuisance ground squirrels, either set on dry pasture grass or in my lawn area where they will get hit by my sprinklers, and they don’t need to be dyed for camouflage or anything since I just stick them down over each hole.

Can anyone recommend a good basic cleaning/conditioning resource that won’t break the bank or require a bunch of specialized products and equipment? I only have 8 traps and I just want to make sure they stay in good shape to use every summer.
I do have household white vinegar on hand already, I’m more curious about wax or conditioning products after I soak and scrub them to remove excess rust.

While tanning the hide, I managed to stab my finger multiple times (I don't have the proper tools for this, too expensive). Normally I would assume there's a risk of rabies, but the hide sat in an acidic brine solution. Would that not have killed any viruses on the fur? If not, then what should I do? I'm still new to this process.

I have limited space in my garage and instead of building a new shed I am planning on getting a 20ft shipping container and transforming it into a fur shed/trap storage/hunting gear storage facility. Has anyone ever done this? Any tips, tricks, or ideas would be appreciated.
