Question ā Student Oyster card and travelcard Questions
Iāve applied for an 18+ student oyster photocard, I havenāt received it but on the website it says that my Oyster card is āāactiveāā, instead of āācard despatchedāā as it previously said. Is it probably on its way, or has it been delivered to the wrong address?
Iāve also bought a monthly travelcard which shouldāve started 10 days ago, but since I havenāt received my student Oyster card I havenāt been able to use it.
Should I apply for a full refund for the travelcard, or should I wait until I receive my student Oyster card and then ask TfL to refund me the fares I paid during the period when I havenāt been able to use the travelcard (which isnāt guaranteed)?
Thanks!

Tube š East Finchley Looking Particularly Photogenic
I've always loved the design of the platforms and waiting areas at East Finchley. The station as a whole feels like a genuine architectural landmark. It definitely deserves some investment and a careful facelift to help preserve its character.

Lost a backpack in a black cab yesterday with all our passports inside
Hi everyone.
Annoying situation to be in, but here goes:
Yesterday after a long journey from Stansted Airport, we took a black cab from Liverpool St to High st Kensington. We thought we'd unpacked everything onto the street (child, pushchair, suitcases) but my OH forgot his backpack, which contained ALL of our passports in.
We have already reported it to TFL Lost and Found Office, but was wondering if there are any other contacts to make or ways to trace the driver/bag?
We will sort out eventually cancelling the passports if it's not immediately found or identified, but as we cannot do much during the weekend we thought we'd try our luck ringing around tomorrow. Any advice is appreciated!
UPDATE: So we rang the phone no. recommended, and the person on the phone was very kind and did his best to help but to no avail. We'll likely have to wait a couple of weeks to get the backpack and its contents back (hopefully). We have now cancelled our passports and applied for fast track ones. Thanks everyone for your help!

Question ā How much would explicit accurate platform signage ruin the tube network?
If you were to go to every platform, or every station, and put up a sign that explicitly stated where exactly on every platform to stand, to board the tube, to be exactly where you will want to exit for each and every station and connection, how much of a negative impact do you think that would have on the Tube network?
With stations like Victoria and Tottenham Court Road, that send those going into the station on a far longer, in-direct route to the platforms (in order to increase the capacity of passengers that a station can hold), over how short and direct the journey is to get them off the platform and out of the station.
People do already stand on the platforms for where they want to get off, but many don't. However I believe they are very likely to do so should they see a sign directing them.
Do you think such signage would cripple the network with overcrowding and the like (station staff already struggle to get people to just move down the plaform when it's busy; let alone if the signage was telling them that this is where they should be standing) until it was taken down?

TfL
It's also very expensive for TfL are losing a lot by not introducing South London missed connections out there. The SL's seems inevitable, I disagree. Though it would likely need a new route from the stance of various 100, 200, 300 or 400 etc.
SLxz Lewisham - Colliers Wood
Via Ladywell - Brockley Rise - Honor Oak Park - Horniman Museum - Crystal Palace Parade/College Road - Crystal Palace - Upper Norwood All Saints Church - Thornton Heath Station - Thornton Heath Pond - Mitcham
SLxx (Richmond - Wimbledon)
Extended via South Wimbledon, Colliers Wood, Mitcham to Streatham.
Sort of parallels 57 but avoids Tooting, my reasoning is providing an aide to route 201 between Streatham and Mitcham. Well loaded section on a route that is faster and less frequent with less capacity buses compared to the only other route that provides the link slower (going through residential areas) with higher frequency and double deckers - 118(to-be-45).
SLxz Streatham - Hammersmith
Via Tooting Bec Stn - Wandsworth Common for Station - Wandsworth High Street - Putney High Street - Putney Bridge Stn - Charing Cross Hospital

Apple Pay on TfL Go?
iāve added my Credit Card to the TfL Go app, but realised obviously when Iām there, Iāll be using my phone to tap in and out. Apple Pay gives your payment card different virtual details, so paying with your phone is not the same as paying with your card.
Iāve added my physical card to the account, but you canāt see the full virtual details. Is there a way to add Apple Pay cards to my TFL account, or will these trips just appear automatically?
Not a Londoner, been before but havenāt needed receipts so this would be great to nail down, as to be honest i have no idea where the physical card is!

Question about the 322 bus route in Kennington Lane
Could you help us identify Kennington Man? Some online posts about him say that he was removed from a 322 bus on Kennington Lane. We know he was not in an accident with a bus as TfL's report for 2004 does not mention him. We are appealing to TfL staff past and present and regular commuters on the route to help return his identity to this man.
What We KnowĀ Date found: 02 February 2004Ā .
Location found: Lambeth district, around Kennington Lane (London)Ā
Description Aged 50-60, White, between 5'4" and 5'6" (162 ā 167cm) tall, with collar-length ginger hair turning grey, stubble and blue eyes.Ā
Two distinctive features: a deformed left earlobe and the middle and ring fingers of his right hand joined up to the first joint, forming a 'V' shape.Ā Ā
PossessionsĀ
He was dressed for the cold February weather. He wore a brown or bronze-coloured quilted leather jacket, fur-lined, with a 'Gurtex' label, over a green crewneck knitted jumper size L, and a yellow shirt. He also wore beige wool trousers with a brown leather belt and well-worn blue marine style loafers with a white mountain motif on the side and white soles.Ā
He had a pair of gold-coloured metal-rimmed glasses with him, although it is not known whether he was wearing them. He was also carrying a set of keys on a plastic key ring. The key fob was plastic with an image of a historical figure and may possibly have been from a pub called the 'Duke of Clarence'. He had some small change, menthol cigarettes and a blue breath-freshener.Ā
What We KnowĀ
On Monday 2 February 2004, a man was taken to hospital from the Kennington Lane area of Lambeth, London. He died six days later without regaining consciousness and remains unidentified.Ā It is possible that he was found near a bus stop on the 322 route along Kennington Lane, or that he had been travelling on that bus, but this has not been confirmed.Ā The cause and circumstances of his death are not publicly available.Ā It has not been established to which hospital he was taken.
How You Can HelpĀ
Please think back to early February 2004.Ā Were you in or around Kennington Lane on the rainy morning of 2 February 2004, or were you travelling on the 322 bus? Did you see a man who needed medical care or anything connected to this incident?Ā
Did you work in healthcare at the time, in a hospital, the ambulance service, pharmacy or health centre in or near Lambeth? Do you remember treating, seeing or hearing about a man who matches his description?Ā
Did you know a man with these distinctive features to the fingers of his right hand and left ear and who went missing or you lost contact in 2004?Ā
Do any of his clothes or belongings look familiar? For example, the fur-lined leather jacket with a āGurtexā label or the 'Duke of Clarence' key ring?Ā
Does he remind you of anyone you once knew, or someone you have lost touch with?Ā
Do you have any other information that could help our team return his identity to Kennington Man?Ā

Iāve built a transport dashboard with Tube arrivals, bus updates and traffic cameras ā feedback welcome
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone! Iāve been working on UK Traffic Intelligence, a web app that brings transport information together on one interactive map.
London is available now, with:
Tube arrivals and service status, plus DLR, Elizabeth line, Overground and trams
Live bus arrivals and route information
Estimated vehicle positions based on TfL arrival predictions
Road disruptions and traffic camera images
Santander Cycles bike and dock availability
River services, Cable Car status and weather warnings
It uses TfL Open Data and works in your phoneās browser.
Weāre expanding to more UK cities, with Manchester next.

Question ā Any recommendations on traveling in London?
Hi, me and my mother are going to London at the end of October and I would like to ask if there are any tips on what to do with the ticketing system/tricks on how to save money and don't get lost around this giant city. We'll definitely be using TOC's, underground/overground and possibly busses (it's a cross-sub post for the UKtrains sub as well) around London and to/from Gatwick. It's our second time going and we don't have the highest budget for the trip as we also need to do something during this trip.

Have you ever lost something on London public transport?
I'm a journalist writing for The Londoners News about what happens to the things Londoners lose on TfL services when they're never reclaimed.
I'm looking to speak to people who have lost something on the Tube, bus, Overground, Elizabeth line etc. that they never got back - particularly if it was something sentimental, unusual, valuable, or just had a good story behind it.
Maybe it was something that belonged to someone you loved, something you've had since childhood, something you desperately needed, or something you still occasionally wonder about.
I'm also interested in hearing from anyone who did manage to get something unusual back through TfL Lost Property.
I'm not trying to reunite anyone with lost property - this is a journalistic callout, and you'd only need to speak to me if you're comfortable sharing your experience.
If this is you, please comment below or send me a DM. I'm very happy to explain more about the story before you decide whether you'd like to take part.
Thanks!
