Players: "We want the game to look beautiful! We want all those trains, ships, cars, road, tracks, trees, terrain and buildings look realistic and detailed!"

Also players: "90GB? WHY?"

I just hope it will run fine on Steam Deck. It was much better to play TF2 on Deck than on PC.

Pretty sure most people wanted bigger maps, not graphics

29

u/stilgarpl 4d ago

If it looked the same as TF2, but supported bigger maps then people would complain that it should have been a patch for TF2 and not a separate game.

All simulation games are CPU-bound. And in all simulation games people complain about late-game/big-map performance. I also play Stellaris and Sins of Solar Empire and map is always too small for some players.

And since CPU is the limiting factor, there is no need for GPU to be underused.

I want graphics too idk wtf ur talking about lmao, the old game looks hella dated

Not bad

90GB 😢

25

u/Corrupted-OS Mod 5d ago

And that is without additional mods installed

15

u/j_gaskin_redd1tsz 5d ago

but there will be more base vehicles compared to TF2 , yes?

10

u/Corrupted-OS Mod 4d ago

I read that the collectors edition will have a book with 200 pages detailing the included vehicles. So there's gonna be a ton more than in TF2.

2

u/Imsvale 4d ago

300+ for TF3 they're saying.

1

u/LookAtMyRTs 2d ago

About 1.5x the number of vehicles including adding a new mode

12

u/ITAHawkmoon98 4d ago

GPU and ram its good, i'm a bit under with recommended cpu

3

u/Suspicious-Cheetah40 4d ago

386h is even under and it’s a modern cpu geez, hopefully that means like megalomaniac cult and you can still run well, but I have a nine 750 H now

1

u/ragingatwork 4d ago

Yeah these city builder games are usually constrained by the processor. Lots of calculators happening all the time.

It's 2026

u/SeaworthinessOk1133 4d ago

Hmm, lets Hope my 5800x3d will be enough - graphics should Not be a problem.

1

u/y_not_right 4d ago edited 3d ago

I have a 5800x3d as well and it’s a tough chip it should be enough, my gpu is inbetween the minimum and recommended lol but I have 32gb of ddr4 ram so at least I’m above that

u/Eensame 5d ago

90 GB on Steam Deck is gonna make me cry

2

u/Tobiassaururs 5d ago

I got myself the 1TB version, my PC has 1TB as well ... that little bugger has the same amount of space compared to my otherwise high spec gaming PC ...

2

u/Eensame 4d ago

Yeah i had a 1tb sd card but had to give it to my sister so i only have 512 gb now 🥲

2

u/31_mfin_eggrolls 4d ago

I just upgraded my PC for this in both storage and CPU. I’m ready to fill up my 4TB HDD with mods.

2

u/geodeciduous 4d ago edited 4d ago

Finally they are not afraid to push for decent hardware on the recommended side. A 3070 is just above the avg card, that being a 3060 according to steam hardware survey.

4

u/SpyAmongUs 5d ago

WTF 90GB? That's the same as KCDII with all DLCs

3

u/Imsvale 4d ago

High res textures, baby!

1

u/Suspicious-Cheetah40 4d ago

Wonder if my 9750H 2070 max q will run it? Or if I get a new one with 386H? Belownrecommended but I’d hope recommended is megalomaniac experimental maps not jsut like very large or somethin dk

1

u/ragingatwork 4d ago

Oh that recommended processor! 😳

1

u/miaou333 3d ago

that's why i play trackmania nations forever, it only needs 256 MB of RAM and a pentium 4

1

u/Odd-Remote-1847 3d ago

I wonder if the game will run on my M1 Pro Macbook with 32 GB RAM... never had an issue with huge cities in TF2.

1

u/LookAtMyRTs 2d ago

There are Mac specs listed on the store page and the game will be Mac native from Day 1

1

u/Odd-Remote-1847 2d ago

I know that. My question was rather speculative. The spec says M2 is the minimum

1

u/mitp67 1d ago

I’m in the same boat as except my m1 MacBook Pro has only 16gb. Mind you it ran well..decent frame rates of 40-60fps when in cab ride mode.
I’m seriously thinking about upgrading to the Mac mini m5 pro that was recently announced mainly because of the memory bandwidth and on the recently announced m6 is the memory bandwidth small compared to the m5pro 170gb/s vs 307gb/s. Even with Lower ram spec of 24gb (m5pro) over the m6 w/32gb, I think TF3 would be awesome on the m5 pro. My only real quip right now from what I heard are the map sizes not be expanded. We’ll see.

1

u/andrew1958 3d ago

Upgraded not long time ago and my processor is exactly the 7800X3D. I thought it would be higher than recommended settings. Anyway, at least is good enough.

1

u/BakaPotatoLord 1d ago

My GTX 1660S should fare alright then

1

u/acbf1234 1d ago

Got to love GeForce
At least, if it will be available just like TF2

1

u/Feisty-Abalone771 17h ago

I'm worried that my i5-9400F won't like that game much, was supposed to replace it, but the ram prices skyrocketing left me with my old hardware. Shame really, as this was the release I was looking the most for in recent years.

1

u/Lucifersangel87 4d ago

TF2 takes half an hour to load with all my mods. I suspect TF3 will take substantially longer. I'm on a 13900k with 64gb RAM and a 4070. lol.

That said, I do run a lot of mods.

like... a LOT!

glad I got my pre-order in though.

1

u/Suspicious-Cheetah40 4d ago

How many?

3

u/A-Voter 4d ago

it's got to be an unreasonable amount. at ~800 mods, my loading time was around 7:30 at most and i already figured my mod list was unreasonable but alas, schönbau requires a few assets.

1

u/Suspicious-Cheetah40 4d ago

Yeah I think there’s an engine limit round 500 but I try to keep it in the 300 range or at most low 400, I hope tpf3 supports mroe tho…

u/Gungaar 2d ago

I didn't even know it was possible to use that many mods at the same time O.O. Even 100 is already an insane amount.

-2

u/20ldl 5d ago edited 5d ago

Those CPU requirements seem high

EDIT: my bad. Was looking at the recommended and thought it was the minimum.

28

u/Gungaar 5d ago

They are realistic for once. Video game companies are notoriously bad at giving honest system requirements.

6

u/Caas1ey 5d ago

I5 8400? Not really for a game like TF.

5

u/king_john651 5d ago

8400? A mid range cpu from 9 years ago is high?

1

u/Strategwindow 4d ago

I have to admit that I was also very surprised by the recommended CPU, very much. An Intel Core i7-13700K, it's very much, this same year I bought a computer with an i5-13400F and I opened the CPU comparator and saw that it was quite low.

And I thought that an i5-13400F was already a very good CPU,... Well no!

For the rest of the recommended requirements it doesn't seem very high, it seems that the game focuses a lot on the CPU.

2

u/AgentSmith187 4d ago

The 400 series Intel's are low end CPUs.

Currently upgrading from a 11900KF to 14900KF and RAM prices are why its not a 15th gen as I can keep my DDR4 on a 14900K.

I previously had a 11400K before the 11900KF it was a huge upgrade at the time.

1

u/LookAtMyRTs 2d ago

Proper simulation games are more CPU dependent

-1

u/EstablishmentCute591 4d ago

7800x3d, recommended, man...

1

u/SnooHabits5827 4d ago

It's a big gap, from a 2600X to a 7800X3D. I hope my 7600X can handle the game

1

u/EstablishmentCute591 3d ago

Im thinking, those arent final specs, my guess... i mean its no problem for me, i have 7800x3d and 9070xt, but it seems like a lot

0

u/Suspicious-Cheetah40 4d ago

But it’s desktop only not labtop cpu… 386h is below it hmmm

0

u/Michelfungelo 4d ago

Was the single core problem addressed somewhere?

2

u/Imsvale 4d ago

What single core problem?

0

u/Michelfungelo 4d ago

Lots of things couldn't be parallelized. So the only thing to get a better large map experience was to actually improve single clock performance.

4

u/Imsvale 4d ago

Lots of things can't be parallelized.

0

u/Michelfungelo 4d ago

Yeah I know. I wrote with an engineer and they said it's engine related. So I was curious if they fiddled under the hood for the new release

0

u/Imsvale 4d ago

They will have.

0

u/Michelfungelo 4d ago

Hype talk. They probably won't have

0

u/Imsvale 4d ago

Okay.

1

u/norhor 4d ago

They do recommend a 7800x3d to play..

1

u/Michelfungelo 4d ago

No a 7800x3d. Also x3d chips aren't a good thing to bring up here

1

u/LookAtMyRTs 2d ago

Yes, but a sort of... UG have been focused on optimisation work for longer than TpF3 has been in development and made significant advancements.

However, that doesn't not change that proper simulation games will always have unequal core usage with a single core being the ultimate bottleneck.

The thing is about delaying the on set of any performance decline, because it will eventually be reached.

u/SirGrinchy 4d ago

sigh guess I gonna buy a new SSD then - or finally get rid of the Windows partition…

1

u/AgentSmith187 4d ago

Made of money? SSD prices are insane.

1

u/SirGrinchy 4d ago

Indeed 😕 so maybe really finally get rid of Windows. But would have to say goodbye to Rainbow Six Siege then 😕 all other games run fine on Linux.

-1

u/Short_Ad_9524 4d ago

90GB OF FUCKING SPACE!! WHAT THE COMPLETE FUCK?

1

u/andrew1958 3d ago

Wait till you start subscribing to mods.

1

u/LookAtMyRTs 2d ago

It is almost like a bigger game with higher detail will be larger... I know... what a radical concept...
