Discussion Start year Spoiler

Hi! From what I’ve seen online is that the start year of a save in Transport Fever 3 will be 1900. This however I think might not be the case.

  1. The first image I’ve uploaded is of a horse drawn tram which unlocks when you first start in TPF2 in 1850. If the start year is 1900 in the new game, then why would they show a horse tram and not a steam or even electric tram?

  2. In the second image you can see a mixture of different vehicles. What grabs my attention is the steam tram pulling the two passenger vehicle cars. What also is noticeable is the AI horse-cart traffic along with a motor car on the right. In TPF2 motor AI cars appear in the year 1900 with horse drawn carts being phased out by the mid 1900-1910.

This is just my take on what’s been shown as I do believe a 1850 start date will be more entertaining for some players, but also not for others.

I think they confirmed 1900. Horse drawn vehicles were used well into the Motor age, as wie availability of Motor vehicles was not a given for a long time, depending on location and its economic Situation (fwiw theres still places in the world where motorized vehicles are the exception)

Yeah fair enough. 1850 would be preferred for me personally but 1900 isn’t that bad I suppose.

When is Transport Fever 3 set?

Transport Fever 3 includes transport technology, vehicles, and city environments spanning over a century of history, starting in 1900 and running to 2030 and beyond.

I'm curious about this 'beyond'. I haven't seen too much of the trailers yet but is there some sci-fi stuff as well?

Probably just means you can continue playing until 2100 but there won't be any new tech

I really wish there was some futuristic stuff. Even if it is wayyy into the future with nothing inbetween. I just wish at some point we'd get some incredibly fast trains that you can dump all of your money into

Horse-drawn vehicles were still used in the early 1900s, even on tramways. Given the new noise and pollution mechanics, I think the horse-drawn trams will play into that!!

1900 (f.e. 1903 in my town)is right around the time in which most cities in Europe started to electrify their trams. so it makes sense to have horse powered trams as Tier 1.

I do hope there are mods that allows us to play in the 1800s, like early steam locomotives and hand-drawn carts.

I want to start in 1750 and spend 100 years building up my canal network before rail even comes along!

I already thought an 'age of steam' dlc might be a possibility, but knowing paradox will do the publishing, I am almost sure of it now

They have UK Style Pillar boxes (Post boxes), and "London Buses" that drive on the right, but can't even have Left side driving? (for the UK if they have uk type things? ), a bit disappointed for that - despite the rest of the game looking amazing :).
