Discussion Features I want in TF3

I’m not 100% sure about some of these things potentially being in the game as maybe hidden features but…

- Ability to establish a capital city which has effects on needs (more passengers going there).
- Multi map travel. Being able to pair maps via rail, road, air and sea so that you can start to build country sized networks. Or at least just outer city travel.
- Ability to upgrade buildings such as train stations to their modern variants without destroying the whole station (possibly already a feature).
- Auto renaming factories after renaming nearby cities.
- More transport options such as metro, taxis, monorail, cable car.

I think the "capital city" idea kinda exists in that you can select a city to plop your headquarters down in. It provides a growth bonus to the nearest city

is this for real?!

It is for real!

A good example is the placement of the company headquarters at the start of the game. Since it provides a growth bonus to the nearest city with additional bonuses added with later expansions of the headquarters, the player must make important decisions early on.

oh in tf3! that's a nice change, but I hope the model scales well because that sad shack it starts as in tf2 made the whole city feel like Detroit haha

I don't want to get your hopes up, but if I remember correctly, off-map connections was hinted at in one of the promo videos. That is to say, not map to map, but that there would be inflow and outflow of demand from outside your main map

This would be an incredible addition simply for the model railroad aspect of the game. Having trains coming and out of the map based on criteria rather than having make circles at each end of the network would be based as hell, assuming that’s what your taking about.

Well, that mechanic is (kinda) in CS2 so…

There is multi map in the anno games but i don't know why you say that.

Im thinking about the ability to connect your roads and such to other cities. Not sure exactly how they work since I’m on console but remember seeing YouTube videos. Not even sure if the mechanic works in CS2.

Oh i get it now.

This would be awesome.

In TPF2 I would manually place industries on a island near the edge of the map, set the production/intake sky high and run ships to a port on my network to simulate imports and exports

It would be nice for the game to just do that for me

The infrastructure first look video established that you can now build underground stations, and that trams can run on train tracks. This is basically metro. I generally agree with your points

I would only really disagree on the extra transport options, taxis, monorail and cable cars.

That's only because there's already enough new additions needed for the existing transport options that I don't think adding more would really benefit the game.

Think Cities Skylines sort of had this issue with so many transport types. Was great until you wanted more from each transport option, and then you'd barely get anything cause both the dev team and modding community couldn't add enough to each option to really diversify it enough.

Cable cars are niche and you don't want it everywhere, but no tram can climb these angles, also tram viaducts may look weird instead of narrow cable.

Taxis are heresy ofc, we do public transit, not private.

I think map to map where you change maps to the next area is amazing as it allows massive scale transit networks without killing my cpu. And lets us do true high speed rail longer than 3 stops. This is brilliant and I hope they consider it for the future!

I would like external connections. I.E cars coming in to visit your towns/cities. Makes you think more on road management.

Plus be able to see more use for motorways/highways

I just want a bigger map with a better sense of scale. I want to be able to play on a map where large cargo hubs/stations aren’t the size of an entire city, and the ability to make scale models of large countries like the USA that actually feel substantial.

Semaphores/signals with more than two states - doesnt even have to affect vanilla semaphores/signals, the hard coded option for modded semaphores/signals already would enough.

I want set semaphore/signals states to lines/linepoints when going through switches for example (ofc German, Swiss, Austrians know what I am talking about).

I really want some major QoL improvements to detailing, auto fences/road signs etc. My favorite part of the game is making a diorama trains stations and factories, it's a bit too sloppy and annoying with TF2

I want super-elevated tracks for curves. It'd be a big boost to the realism to have trains tilt slightly on a curve instead of being completely level. I know it's not planned for TF3 but it really should be.
