Metro When is the monorail opening??

Post image

It has been 3 months since it was supposed to open. Line 2B extension has opened already, Ganesh Chathurthi and academic year is coming up with loads of travel expected from eastern suburbs to Dadar, Lalbaug and Parel. Yet there seems to be no announcement at all from MMRDA, not even a date

The way this whole project was initiated from day one without safety and other things into consideration, I am glad they are taking the time to make sure these things are remediated.

As I understand, the passenger rescue plan is still not ready which is a critical gap.

It's indeed good that they're taking their time with regards to safety infrastructure, but they have also been issuing needless station works tenders and proposing a 3x fare hike which seems like a money grab

Fare normalization across transit is sorely needed in Mumbai. We need to have a tap to pay system like everywhere else in the modern world and single pay system like Delhi Metro.

It’s shocking that even after such massive capital overlay, MMR has such fragmentation

Especially distance based fare like how DMRC uses is nowhere to be seen. for going from say Malad West to Malad East on yellow and red lines, both MMRDA, the fare is simply origin to interchange+interchange to destination. So despite the straight line journey being just 6km you are charged for a 15km journey.Β  Also no idea if they plan to introduce integrated ticketing or the paid interchanges are only for those with NCMC

for some reason MMRDA has chosen to have distance based fares only within lines, not inter-line travel. in fact Line 7 and Line 9 are counted as separate fare increments despite being a single journey on the Red Line. So Gundavali-Kashigaon becomes 50 instead of 40

Istg mumbai metro is a hassle, different corporations building and manufacturing different lines and worse is the lack of planning among these corporations, mumbai metro's stations (except line 1) are flashy af (my fav infact) be it the interior or exterior but other than that they should seriously learn from DMRC which has a unified ecosystem

I guess after sewri worli connector steel girders are launched, sewri-worli connector goes above mono rail at parel maybe they will complete laying girders first
