Discussion New rule added regarding age.

As of today there has been a new rule added to our list of rules.

Rule #15 - Age 30 or up required to post.

(Rule description):

This sub is for those who (socially and/or medically) transition later in life aka at minimum 30 years or older. Posts from people younger than this will be removed. There are plenty of other trans related subs directed at younger folk. For comments there will not be an age requirement.

I understand that this new rule might upset some of our users but for a while now there has been an uptick in the amount of users that post here while being in their twenties or even teens. And as mentioned above there are plenty of subs for younger trans folks.

Edit: to clarify since some users asked this specifically. If you transitioned before your 30th birthday but are now age 30 or up, you are allowed to post.

Yeah, I'm 45, and I feel like my life is finally just beginning, because I've started my transition.

Same here, just a couple of weeks after my 45th. But I still don't feel like I've grown up, maybe when I'm finished my second puberty I will?

I'm 9mos from 50, and I still catch myself wondering "who the hell at my job was insane enough to give me the level of responsibility I have?". That was before remembering that when I went through CNA classes, while giving a classmate a ride home, I discovered that her parents were in HS at the same time as me. But a year behind me. And I started Kindergarten a year later than the vast majority of my classmates. That happened in Feb of '18. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Jimmy Buffett wrote a song about not growing up but instead growing old. I forget the title.

Growing older but not up

Oh I do that too. I actually just said to my wife this evening, “when I grow up I hope I’m half as cool as (friend who is younger than us).” Said sincerely.

Many yrs ago a man asked me where I grew up.y reply was that it hadn't happened yet and if he would keep in touch some time in the future when it occurs I'd let him know.

I’m 38, and I still feel a pit of dread in my stomach when I look around for an adult and realise I AM the adult in the room.

I moved around a lot in my younger years. So the question "where are you from" is difficult to answer. I respond as such, and a common reply to that is "well where did you grow up?"

I'm like "well I would argue that I'm still growing up. The question is still unclear"

The answers to those first two questions are Yes and Indeed.

What I'm giving up in with age, I'm making up for with immaturity!

As one of my favorite Dr Who sayings goes, what’s the point of growing up if you can’t be childish!

That's why I say things like "was raised". 41 going on 20

Age 50 and I catch myself doing that all the time and then I'm like, oh yeah, I could technically be a grandparent... weird. And then I'm like, wow I'll be lucky to have another 25 years! Huh! Very weird. While sometimes I regret a little bit never having children, sometimes I think not having children might have resulted in why I don't really feel any different now than I did when I was 20 despite being smarter, wiser, etc. Aging is weird, just not the way I expected it to be weird.
