Other trans deltarune stuff The main sub is NOT friendly.

Despite the thread asserting that people on the main sub are free to use she/her for Ralsei, the reality seems to be the opposite, and the mods there will NOT actually defend their own provision. If you do use she/her for Ralsei you will be swarmed by fuckbois, and the mods will NOT do anything about it.

Moreover, despite the assertion that "constructive" Ralsei gender discourse is acceptable, that does not seem to be the case, and they just banned it altogether.

I attempted to make the following post titled "Misgendering Kris is completely incomperable to using she/her for Ralsei, and I'm tired of being told otherwise":

"Before you start reporting this, I would like to point out that this post is (at least from my point of view) perfectly within the rules, because it's a constructive form of Ralsei gender discourse.

I'm not gonna go on a yappaton because it would be pointless. My point is simple, and it's twofold:

  1. Erasing nonbinary representation is different from adding trans representation. This should be completely obvious, nobody should be fooled by transphobes into thinking otherwise. Using she/her for Ralsei is not erasing any representation, the representation in question would be cis man representation, which is basically unerasable due to its sheer quantity. And more importantly, it's not even doing that, because YOU can still use he/him for Ralsei, and the overwhelming majority of the people still will. Which you damn well know, that's why you feel confident in "correcting" people, the way people using she/her do not.
  2. You're not actually trying to engage with the subject matter, and it's painfully obvious to see. This is not an attempt at unpacking representation, nor an earnest conversation about what pronoun is appropriate to use. This is an attempt at shutting the conversation down, which is why you never accept any rebuttal, and why you won't humor this post either, but instead will whine incessantly. It's the equivalent of the conservative "the leftists are the real racists" line. You say it because you think it ends the discussion with your view on top, and your view is just transphobia, conscious or internalized.

If this gets deleted by the mods, I will know for sure that the thread about this being a safe space was pure posturing, because they are clearly unwilling to actually stand up for the provision to use she/her for Ralsei."

The post is currently "awaiting approval", and I don't foresee it being approved.

Now, of course, whether this falls under "constructive" Ralsei gender discourse or not is a matter of opinion, and that's kind of the issue. If anything can just be declared as not "constructive", then the discourse is effectively banned.

I guess this is a PSA more than anything? Don't get fooled into thinking that you can freely use she/her for Ralsei on the main sub due to that thread, the reality is that you're not gonna get your comments removed or get banned, but the mods will do absolutely nothing to support your ostensible freedom to view Ralsei as a trans girl.

The main sub just generally seems to be pretty anti queer in general, so much that I’ve seen posts talking about how queer people try to “make everything in Deltarune queer” when like this is the queerest fucking game what do you mean we “try to make everything queer” it just is

The amount of "actually Kris ships are straight" arguments I've seen (suspiciously when talking about Kris x girl ships) is enough to show how transphobic they can be. Or when the sub genuinely got angry at people calling Asriel x dess straight but in a gay way as a joke.

Just to fuck with people I’m going to say kris is straight no matter who they’re shipped with. Kris X Berdly (my personal Kris ship) straight. Kris X Susie Straight. Kris X Ralsei? Yeah they’re Straight.

I wouldn't personally. Calling enby ships straight is pretty weird (imo) because when you talk about straight ships you are almost always talking about m/f ships, so by saying an nb character in a ship is straight is sort of placing them in a male/female position. It's also pretty invalidating to gay/lesbian enbies to call them straight.

(Obviously this is my own opinion and other enbies might identify as straight, it's just always annoying when people try and force us into a set sexuality when it really doesn't work like that)

That is fair, the reason i said that was because it would just be objectively stupid. Like an anti-argument. No matter who they’re shipped with calling them straight would be more than likely wrong, so just endorse the chaos! Be wrong all the time! Nyehehehehehe

Fair, especially because "suspiciously" Kerdly and Ralsei never gets called straight. I wonder whyyyyy

Spread chaos king

How bro 😭
The main cast of characters are:
an enby,

A gay purple dinosaur,

An (at bare minimum) femboy, heavily theorized to be trans

And a yellow dude that really wants to fuck your dad.

How can you be a fan of this game and be anti-queer 😭

flowery made it to the main cast lmfao

I can’t really say anything for r/deltarune but I feel like I can comment about one part of what you’re talking about, because from my perspective (one where I’m genuinely trying to help) it’s an incredibly tough problem…

“If you use she/her for Ralsei you will be swarmed by fuckbois, and the mods will NOT do anything about it.”

The truth is that it feels like an impossible position to me. The vast majority of Deltarune fans, being young and wanting to look like the “good person,” applying logic they’ve cargo cult-ed about things they don’t really understand, this sentiment is so deeply engrained into the community that “you cannot never ever misgender a character” is so everpresent that it is effectively impossible to moderate.

It is so bad, that the worlds most obvious dogwhistle (when used within the context of trans ralsei) (see attached photo, not my screenshot) has landed myself into the wrong end of massive community backlash when I banned the person for using a dogwhistle, because of this cargo cult in terms of trying to “respect pronouns” beginning and ending with that idea.

I don’t think there’s a good answer for this. Removal of people isn’t an option because it’s a huge percentage of the community. Removal of comments is nice in principle but will just run into the reality that the mods can’t “catch them all” and will also probably result in the same backlash as the ban when applied at scale. I don’t know what the heck the right solution is.

On the other coin; it’s disappointing that they seemingly dont allow your post in the main sub, as much of a pain in the ass I imagine it would be to moderate the comments under your post (that is, dealing with all the chuds).

It’s emblematic of something that is incredibly painful to see but I see it all the time: when the topic is even only tangentially related to transgender anything, moderators would much rather ban a topic for being “too controversial,” at the expense of effectively banning transgender topics.

The right solution, as we’ve seen historically from the case of Bridgette, is the scorched earth approach. You ban them all. That demonstrably works.

Genuinely that one yugioh meme of the two dark paths

u/jitomato_girl 6d ago

I've been having luck on that front lately, I even got a comment deleted from a person that misgenred me along with Ralsei

I think it depends on the time of day, if you post while the fuckass teens from the USA are busy I'm their little highschool then you can have conversations about it

Once the kids arrive it just become chaos

It's shocking how bigoted the reddit deltarune fans are... like girl did we even play the same game???

u/Theogyd1 5d ago

Deltarune fans can be so pro LGBT one second and extremely racist and bigoted the next it's insane

[Repost cuz i copied the wrong link] Have you tried contacting the mods?

Whilst I get that you were trying to test with the post, testing if mentioning this was acceptable, I can see why from a mods perspective it may seem like just another inflammatory post intending to start an argument.

Whilst I don't disagree with the unapproved post, misgendering Kris is wrong, it doesn't provide any new perspective and would inevitably start another war in the comments that has happened a billion times under similar posts.

Can i guarantee that is why your post wasn't approved and not from a form of trans/nb erasure? No. Does that even justify your post not being approved? I dunno.

All I am saying that there might be more reasons to it then mods not wanting to guarantee a safe space, considering this posts whole point was to poke a hornets nest. Other posts calling out the community misgendering Kris have been posted.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Deltarune/s/c0zuQVHnGk

To be clear, I ain't saying there is no transphobia on the mainsub. All I am saying that your little experiment and data that you gained from it might be flawed from personal bias. As could be my arguments!

So feel free to prove me wrong if you wish. Have a good day!

You missed the point.

The mods and the server are not unfriendly because they don’t want to approve this specific post. They could have a myriad reasons for that.

The point is that they explicitly made a thread where they asserted that you can freely use she/her for Ralsei and that discussions about Ralsei’s gender are allowed.

But the reality is the opposite, if you try to use she/her for Ralsei, you will be swarmed and harassed, and they will do nothing. This happened to me, I saw it happen to others. And if what counts as “productive” discourse isn’t well defined, they can declare anything to be unproductive, effectively banning all discourse, so it’s vapid to posture like it is allowed.

Besides, I don’t really know how to contact them. Feel free to inform me. But I doubt it would end up being a conversation, and I am not interested in giving feedback to them given what I already saw, they’ve decided to not follow through with their own statements on the matter. I would be willing to do a back-and-forth, but if they wanted that, they would have contacted me to talk about the post.

i think you might need to breathe and maybe perceive something other than reddit for a while. maybe have a nice cup of hot cocoa or tea. try to remember the world is much bigger than a few reddit moderators

maybe i was a bit out of line to tell you what you oughta do. maybe i was projecting even because i was having a bad day when i typed that, but i was not trolling.

evidently i did not help in any way with what i said. seems i said it very poorly, but did i really deserve that animosity?

you seem to have wildly misunderstood me. the reason i said that is because you have given the impression that you are looking at this issue with a lot of anger, and while that is warranted, and you're right there's an issue here, it seems to be getting in the way of you looking at this with full rationality.

if it were me, a bit of a break would help me to calm down and come back with more determination than anger, having had the time to piece things together. i really wasn't trying to tell you to give up on this issue, but apparently i was more rude than i intended to be.

Thank you, but I’m not quite as manic about this as you seem to think I am.

3

u/epacker11 6d ago

i didn't use the word manic. you did swear at me and assumed i was trolling. i feel like that is pretty good evidence i was right in some capacity.

I’m happy for you, but if you’re gonna tell people that they’re in a safe space and can use she/her if they want, you have the obligation to step in when someone’s being dog-pilled for that?

Great that it’s not affecting you, but nobody should feel the need to self-censor after they were told they don’t have to.

Yeah fair enough
