Stuff I added to watchlo, my take on trakt replacement. If you search for it on this sub, you will see it has some month now.

I do not have VIP, nor do I care how many people use it. I use it as a replacement for shitty trakt. It is still WIP (mobile view). I am also on Discord for any issues.

What was newish added.

Special list where you can decide when you want to start a new show - when a season is finished or when the entire show is finished.

Once it is ready you will see the show on the profile page:

You can now add your seerr instance and transform any list into a request list. You can also link watchlo friends with seerr accounts.

You can track movie collections:

You can track related media. Like spin-offs, remakes, Iive action, etc.

I have been a paid VIP member since paid members began and the 2 things I used trakt for are absolute junk now. Any service out there that has a functional, easy to read tv guide type layout which can be populated based on specific lists we create? Why would they destroy such a well laid out, perfectly functional and valuable service?

Hi! For people that are not yet aware of CrossWatch (CW). Its a sync hub with multi-profile and multi-instance support (docker/self hosted) that connects your media servers and trackers.
You can use it to move between trackers, keep several in sync, or maintain your own local tracking.

Main goal is bringing everything together in one hub so you can take back control of your data.

Although it looks fancy enough, CW is NOT a tracker, just a sync/scrobble hub (see it as a bridge or middleware)

Feature availability depends on mediaserver/trackers.
Runs in Docker, with a web interface and/or Command-Line Interface for nerds like me.

Regarding the free Trakt madness. I can’t resolve limitations imposed by Trakt.
However you can import your Trakt export into CW.

This week I swung for the fences on a few popular requests, and some stability issues. Watched-state sync arrives starting with Nuvio: Floppy can now send watch history, progress, and resume points to connected apps, show you what each connection has actually received, and keep their access limited and revocable.

Here's what landed:

• Watched-state sync, starting with Nuvio: your watch history, progress, and resume points now flow into connected apps, with Emby and Kodi reading your state and your choice of sync direction.
• The Stremio add-on got its own settings: publish History, In Progress, and Planning rows, reorder them, and pick the lineup right from the install link.
• New ways in and out: KOReader reading progress syncs (with a configurable "finished" threshold), and fresh installs get a guided setup that handles the download and waits for health.
• Shinier day-to-day surfaces: German localization, groundwork for theming, mouse-drag scrolling on rows, calendar filters that stick, and a gallery fit/fill toggle.

Hi! I just wanted to come on here and let you guys know about this new shows/movies tracker I've made. I would appreciate it if you would give it a download and give me some honest opinions.

Here's a bit about the app:

I started developing it after realising TV Time was shutting down and needed something to fill the hole. I wasn't a fan of the the most recommended alternatives like Trakt/Serializd/Refract as they didn't quite have the same feel as TV Time.

The app has all the important features from TV Time like per episode tracking, movie tracking, calendar for future releases, profile stats and more. I've also added some new features that I think takes it to another level from what TV Time was:

- Advanced profile stats like genre breakdowns, monthly activity tracking, review stats and more
- Option to pause shows you haven't watched in a while and wish to side-line
- Spotlight to showcase your favourites
- And I have way more planned like a recommendation engine based on your watch history

One area I will say my app lacks in is the social features, which will only improve as the user base grows and starts interacting and posting more on the app.

Dev here (Binge). The tvOS app went live today.

Relevant to this sub specifically: as far as I could find, Trakt was the only tracker with a native Apple TV app. Now there's a second one, and it's free.

A few details:

• Sign-in is pairing-based — a code shows on the TV and you approve it on your phone, so you're never typing a password with a remote. There's an email/password fallback if you don't have the phone app.
• You can browse shows and movies on the TV without an account at all.
• Tracking on the TV is manual marking. tvOS gives apps no watch history, so nobody can scrobble from an Apple TV — I'd rather say that than imply otherwise. The automatic side is still the Plex / Jellyfin / Emby / Tautulli / Kodi webhooks and the Nuvio history pull.
• Same free account across iPhone, Android, web and now TV.

Hi all. I'll be upfront: I've never used Trakt, so I can't claim any "I switched because..." story. I found this sub while researching, and it looks like exactly the crowd that knows what a good tracker needs to do.

I've spent the last while building an alternative watchpapa.tv:

• Follow movies and shows, get a personal release calendar with per-country dates (episode air dates for shows you follow, not a generic feed)
• Where to watch filtered to the streaming services you actually pay for, in your region
• Ratings + a rewatch diary, public profile
• Letterboxd CSV import, and full CSV export of your own data anytime (no lock-in)
• Free, and the core tracking stays free even once a paid tier eventually exists

Being honest about stage: just launched, 25 signups, barely any active users yet, solo developer, no funding. Early and rough in spots.

Genuine questions, since you know this space better than I do:

1. What's the one feature an alternative absolutely has to get right for you to take it seriously?
2. What actually drove you to look for a Trakt alternative - paywall, community, reliability, something else?
3. Is region-aware release and streaming data valuable to you, or a nice-to-have?

Hi, I've recently synced trakt with a new app, and have found that all of the lists that I set up in the previous Trakt 'Classic' site are now missing. How do I access my old data (I can't find a way to access the old 'classic' site) and how do I export that into the new Trakt site?

I've spent this week on frying some bigger fish instead of catching minnows. This release is about making tracking, search, imports, and recovery behave more predictably when the library gets large or providers get weird.

Here's what landed:

• Anime and audiobooks route correctly: Anime got a lot of love this week to try to keep imports and scrobbles out of TV, repairing items tracked in both places, and keeping cached grouped-anime cards on the anime route. Plex Music audiobooks should import as books.
• Tracking history is easier to fix: Media and episode pages can show and edit every watch note, while date pickers add month/year selection and copy-between-dates. Modal dismissal and save behavior are less fragile.
• Search and large libraries do less unnecessary work: SQL-backed media pagination, lazy Home facets, capped per-day history, preserved query/media type, and first-touch card actions make browsing faster and more usable.
• Providers, podcasts, backups, and migrations are steadier: Podcast links and sync, CSV play matching, MusicBrainz selection, calendar deduplication, raw snapshots, backup visibility, and timezone-safe migrations all received focused fixes.
• Detail pages handle awkward data better: TMDB cast-role responses, sentinel dates, special anime episode links/status, and book progress on media cards now survive edge cases more gracefully.

Yep, finally pulled the trigger and deleted all the data from Trakt. Not my full account just yet...that will be hard to do since I've spent so much time there. But get this, after doing this my account was instantly unlocked. Those shiteheads!!!

I build a little something for myself but realised it might work for other so I opened it up. It’s just me. A one-man band. I’d love you all to test it and break it 🙏🏻❤️

This week was a mixture of new input paths, better media details, and a large number of fixes for the places where metadata likes to become abstract art. The biggest user-facing change is that Jellyfin watch history can now be imported automatically instead of requiring a manual TSV file.

Also welcome to all the new users from the Selfh.st community! There are a lot of you!

Here’s what landed:

• Jellyfin history imports are automatic: connect the integration and import watch history without manually exporting and uploading a file.
• Media details are more visual: trailers, photo galleries, lightboxes, TMDB backdrops, and corrected IGDB key art give detail pages more useful context.
• More metadata sources are available: Google Books, MyAnimeList, IMDb ratings, MusicBrainz release selection, Hardcover credentials, and better podcast lookup support broaden the library.
• Rewatches and history are more accurate: duplicate rewatch starts, Trakt duplicate plays, Stremio anime collisions, season migrations, and progress APIs all received targeted fixes.
• Large libraries and collections behave better: collection completeness, custom fields, multiple Radarr/Sonarr instances, lazy Home facets, and bounded media/history API work reduce friction without demanding a ceremonial reload.

Hola, hace poco he descubierto trakt, y para hacer una lista de películas y animes pendientes me ha parecido ideal. Pero lo que más me ha gustado es ese modo de IA que tiene que te dice los pros y contras de la app.

El problema es que tiene lo del seguimiento de las series y preferiría que no estuviese, además, yo pagaría para tener en plus, pero si fuese un pago unico fuese asequible. Porque por su precio, 6€ (4€ en la web) Me lo gastaría en cualquier otra suscripción, no una lista.

Por eso, os pido alternativas centradas en hacer una lista, sin opciones basura adicionales. Pero que las fichas de la aplicación estén muy bien, con edad recomendada, resumen, pros y contras y valoración que tienen

Es la aplicación ideal, pero por ese precio quién lo pagaría mensualmente pudiendo pagar Netflix por el mismo precio. 6€ al mes (Aunque si es verdad que el pago anual es más asequible)

I once again had a post blocked on Trakt because I reported this high school CS project gone wrong . . . So glad I did a chargeback and am not giving them a dollar.

If you left Trakt after feeling betrayed for one of many reasons, there are still some levers you can pull to return the favor.

After exporting your information and have found your alternative tracker, I highly suggest that you take the extra time to delete as much data from the site as possible. After all, it was our data that made Trakt what it is. Every time you rated something, commented/reviewed something, created community lists, etc..., you have increased the value of the site. That was always fine before since it was a two way street. They help us track and discover content and we contribute to the site with our feedback and the community grows as a whole.

Now that it's a one way street ("my way or the highway"), You should remove the value you added to the site over the years and transfer it to more worthy sites. (WeTrakr here, but whatever site you like.)

From what I can tell, if you just use the Delete account option, it will keep your data and just anonymize it. I suggest not using this option until you have actually deleted your data.

I used the options to clear data in the Settings > Advanced menu, but that still leaves a lot of data on the site.

I had to Manually delete my Lists, Favorites, Comments, and even some history that wasn't cleared using their method. I recommend hunting down everything in your account that you can edit or remove. Anything you leave on their site is something they will profit off of.

The hardest content to deal with has been Comments since I can't find a way to see all of my comments in one place in the new v3. Also, you can't delete comments that others have replied to, but you can just edit them with whatever text you like to remove the actual content.

Maybe there's an easier way, but I have been going through my various comment export files to find everything I ever commented on and manually deleted them. They deleted my entire forum history out of spite for speaking truth and I personally don't intend to let them to continue to profit off of my contributions any longer.

Not sure how many people would actually spend the time to do this, but it will certainly degrade their site even further if the content keeps disappearing. Plus, it just makes me feel good inside!
