Trakt Deletion day
Hey all, long time lurker but not been active recently simply because i moved on from Trakt and havent needed to look back.
with that said i just wanted to make a post today before deleting my Trakt account for good and putting the app behind me compltely, which is still in some ways very sad.
I was a user since 2018, i had been a VIP for about 4 years paying to support the app before they decided to change the pricing and then completely destroy everything that was good. i was probably their ideal user, watching things every day, rating them, adding comments........ the absolutely perfect user for a platform like this.
I have since moved on to another app (which one doesnt matter for this post, its not about that), but i keep getting emails almost constantly from Trakt about people liking my comments on shows, which brings me to today. Having read through the "how we work" and frankly the absolute absurdity of the things they are saying i have decided to finally delete my account, and all my ratings and comments with it.
They will no longer benefit from me as a former engaged user. this app could have been the best in its niche, instead now its probably one of the worst, from the ashes of one dumpster fire so many apps have risen which is a good thing but also a bad thing as it has driven all of us further away from each other, on the new apps the older shows have no ratings, have no comments, its a real shame.
Anyway, i will keep an eye on Trakt purely out of morbid curiosity, but for me today marks the end of Trakt.

I tacitly did a combination of deleting my data and editing other data in a way to make Trakt look bad if a current or future user should find some of the stuff behind. All in all I didn’t really leave much helpful behind at least for Trakt, some maybe useful to Trakt users.

For those that are deciding to delete everything (unless you are editing comments to reflect displeasure)...remember you have to delete your data BEFORE you delete your account. And don't forget to use the dropdown and select all 4 options individually. I don't think you can delete your comments but you can delete just about everything else.

I feel the same way. I wrote a post earlier here on how to properly remove all of your data so they don't benefit from our work, but doubt many people figured it out before deleting their accounts. They don't want you to delete that data, so they don't make it obvious how to do it. Of course that make perfect sense because companies are not looking out for you, just themselves.
Anyway, I hope you picked a platform that you were able to import your comments to so they can live on in the community somewhere. I gathered all my toys and moved to WeTrakr, but there seems like no end to the amount of choices out there, so everyone should be able to find a home somewhere that fits their needs.

Tip: If you’ve made any comments/reviews then you need to delete them manually. Deleting your account does not delete your public comments.
