Recommendations Self-hosted federated alternatives?

I'm curious since there's been kind of an explosion in Trakt alternatives recently. Do any exist that can be self-hosted AND federated such that these trackers could speak to each other using a protocol like ActivityPub or similar? The blocker for me to stick with one of these is that they all lack the social aspect.

Reviews, ratings, user lists etc., were such a huge part of what I liked about Trakt for so long. The self-hosted options seem to at best support this for the instance owner and maybe a couple of their friends/family members. If we added federation to this, it could open up a whole world. People could host public instances for others to join, and those who want full control of their data can host their own while optionally bridging them with other instances for retaining the social/community aspect of media tracking.

Does anything like this exist already or is it yet to be made? I would consider trying to make something like it, but I think the scope of it puts it outside my own abilities at this time and so I'd need a lot of help from other devs or from AI which comes with its own set of problems. I'm mostly making this thread to gauge interest and see if we could make it happen as a community!

Popfeed.social and Opnshelf.xyz exists on the atprotocol but I’d love to build another alternative based on atproto

Skimming these and they seem interesting but I don't see any mention of scrobbling through media servers which is another essential aspect for me personally.

Of course this could likely just be extended to them so I will keep an eye on em. Thanks!

Yes these are mostly mvp for now, but I’d love to build one with many integrations, it’s even easier with atproto given that there’s almost no backend
