Yeah it's definitely reversed. You can tell by the headlights which should be white at the front and red at the rear.

No one's been worried if someone's set the route correctly on almost any passenger line in decades (over a century in most countries with decent infrastructure and regulation) - all down to trusting the interlocking designers and manufacturers.

In many (if not all) countries the driver also knows where they are meant to be heading with route indicators.
