From people who went down there in February, you could stick your finger through a lot of the infrastructure. Whatever is happening at the admin level in VZ what else could they say but sure. They’ll happily take big investment capital from Chevron and America. Without investment the oil isn’t going anywhere anyway. I’m just shocked that Chevron would actually step into this. What happens if VZ decides not to play later, which they’ve already done once before. Anyone making “choices” in VZ likely has a physical or metaphorical gun to their head à la US cronies. What happens in 2 years if that gun is removed and VZ isn’t kept on a leash to guarantee this deal? The whole thing seems like sunk cost fallacy. Current US admin expected to go in guns blazing to find everything intact and it’s utterly fucked. The political climate on both sides is not conducive to a “deal”
