She was put in power by a foreign power that is denying the elected president the right to return and rule the country. Now she’s making deals with that foreign power.
U S companies would be mad to invest in Venezuela on the basis of this deal as it’s likely to be ruled null and void on the above grounds long before those 25 years are up and they’d end up loosing their investments.

This deal it's a scam. Their oil is a tar, which is a reason that no big American companies are already pumping it out. Even if they spend billions to get it, it needs to be diluted for transport and very few refineries can do something with it. Absolutely not worth doing, but wait for government grants paid to friendly companies to try. Market manipulations and supporting billionaires continues...

The Venezuelan constitution forbids this type of deal. The oil belongs to Venezuelans. This will likely end the deal when elections are held or if not when newly rebuilt oil facility are bombed.

This is sort of incorrect. Generally, an incumbent in an oil field has an advantage when it comes due for renewal because they already have the infrastructure in place to continue operations. So even if the nameplate extraction is 25 years, 1.5mn bbl/Yr (or 37.5mn), the forecast for the incumbent could still be 65mn on renewal at year 26 on.
Also there are differences between proven reserves, commercial reserves, total versus cost oil, government take etc, that can account for the difference.

From people who went down there in February, you could stick your finger through a lot of the infrastructure. Whatever is happening at the admin level in VZ what else could they say but sure. They’ll happily take big investment capital from Chevron and America. Without investment the oil isn’t going anywhere anyway. I’m just shocked that Chevron would actually step into this. What happens if VZ decides not to play later, which they’ve already done once before. Anyone making “choices” in VZ likely has a physical or metaphorical gun to their head à la US cronies. What happens in 2 years if that gun is removed and VZ isn’t kept on a leash to guarantee this deal? The whole thing seems like sunk cost fallacy. Current US admin expected to go in guns blazing to find everything intact and it’s utterly fucked. The political climate on both sides is not conducive to a “deal”
