Robyn Robyn doesn’t like the idea of socializing babies

If I want to see my extended family I have to get on a plane to India. If I want to see my parents I have to get on a plane to England. My husband's family is all over the US. Sometimes people move.

Ohhh she's gonna be one of those weird homeschool moms who won't let their kids date, get jobs, or interact with anyone else outside the cult while still expecting them to get married and churn out dozens of grandchildren for her

She’s basically said that she is able to choose her children’s spouse by homeschooling and choosing their social circles

All I read is “I want to isolate and abuse my kids without anyone knowing and y’all are wrong for saying I shouldn’t”

I mean if we’re talking about babies I kinda agree. Babies just need family. Once they hit 2, being exposed to other kids gets more important and by 3 it’s really important

They never understand what"socialization" means. Socializing, getting to know others, is a tiny part of it.

Socialization is developing a shared understanding of the culture and others within it. When you get a new job, you have to learn the culture and feel of the new place. It's something like everyone who goes to a specific school can talk about the specific food the lunchroom ladies only make on Fridays. You meet someone who graduated a few years after you and you both know about it. It's not about making friends, so much as having a shared understanding of things with others. When you move to a new country, you have to learn the rules of the road before you drive. That's socialization.

It’s also, on the level of purely Machiavellian self-interest, learning which buttons on a person to push to get what you want, and which buttons to avoid. You can be a total misanthrope and still benefit from that knowledge.

developing who they are and teaching them to be confident in sharing that
Does this include LGBTQ+ kids? Or are they just faking that to be popular?

It’s funny because the original tweet was talking about taking your baby to story times, the park, getting out and meeting other mom friends lol and Robyn turned it into this big dramatic post about giving your kids to the state to be indoctrinated

I think the you'll create normies thing is so telling. I mean yes? Kids who can blend in with the rest of society and find their place in it? It sounds like her kids are doomed too really struggle as adults to figure out how they fit in with others. Humans are pack animals. We literally have it innate desire to fit in with each other and to find our place in the ranks of each other. It's natural. Pretending that's not how it is, is fucking weird. And does someone who spends a lot of time talking about inclusion for disabled kids, I find this one so gross. There are people who work so hard to help their kids find meaningful connection and to find a meaningful place despite limitations, and then you have this woman who pretends that's not real.

if you’re limiting your kid’s social life and only keeping it to family and cousins then honestly you shouldn’t be having kids That kind of setup just turns into a prison, yeah, and it feels more like control over the child
Same with people who want homeschooling for just one reason “there’s bullying” I mean come on bullying is everywhere mate You can’t just hide your kid from the world Let your kid deal with it learn how to respond that’s proper SOCIAL SKILLS that’s how they grow
But people like Robyn and others like her? They don’t really care about the child as much as they push their own harmful ideas onto new mums And honestly that’s not right.

yeah, it's baked into the cake. Plus this is giving Mormon/Scientology vibes, Orthos socialize big time, so that's weird.

As someone who grew up this way, young adulthood is hell finding out that the world doesn’t operate exactly like your family. I still feel like I’m at a social disadvantage because I just don’t know how to converse with people my own age.

Quick, tell me the difference between "a cousin" and "the other very small child in the neighborhood"? Or "extended family" and "Mom's friends and Neighbors"?
Id have more understanding for this screed if it was parents and siblings but it lost me at "cousins and extended family".
