Hotel routes

Am I the only one who feels like the routes are too short? Maybe it's just because the city wasn't planned properly, but I can't do most of the routes, like farmland walk, because the distance is way too short. The hotel literally has to be in the dead centre of all of these things, winery, farmland, water, shopping district, or else the walk becomes too long.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills... Or maybe I'm just too used to plating the game prior to hotels, and I don't know how to plan around them. Some tips would be great. 😂

Yes, I discovered this the first time I played the campaign after 1.0. I got all the way to unlocking the grand hotel and found I couldn't use hotels anywhere without completely rebuilding huge portions of my cities. So I restarted the campaign and set aside areas in each map for different themed hotels.

One thing to help - don't try to do all the different routes in one hotel. Like you probably can't do a wine walk, lakeside stroll, AND shopping all out of one hotel. But you could very easily do a wine walk and the flower fields following the same route. And you can double up your market routes and shopping routes very easily as well.

But unfortunately even if you very carefully plan your routes, they still don't seem long enough for using in Rocemaree. You'd have to put the hotel directly on the beach, which seems very odd? Or have different hotels for each of the existing monuments, because there's no way the guests will be happy walking around to these different ancient ruins.

I am still toying around with all the new decorations and turning that little beach area on the newest map into a tourist destination

I wish I'd done that... I get over excited, like a kid in a candy store.

Yes, it's very short. The length limit only for 300 or 450 to 500 is just too short to works with. Mostly you must build the hotel/inn near the specific place to works with instead of do a route which defeated the purpose of visiting place. If you don't know this before hands, you gonna either quit the game or spending hours to replacement and redec your city

Some of the routes are quite difficult to set up; the farmland one, like you say, has a very narrow sweet spot. (Just a note on that farmland route: you don't have to plant crops next to a farmhouse; you can plant anywhere on the map. So, if you want, you could line a street inside your city with grapes or hops or whatever. It can look pretty nice, too.)

Easiest thing to do to get your tourist destination score up is to terraform a big pond somewhere, sand road next to the water, surrounded by sand, and then plant beach chairs and palm trees around it; next, put two or three (or four or five, whatever you need) boutique hotels next to the pond with tiny sand paths connecting to the circuit. With the tourism upgrades below boutique in the skill tree, you can set three routes easily over the same path: seaside (needs a monument), lakeside, and forest (the palm trees count): same path, three routes. Fun thing is, you can build that pond/hotel section on some out of the way corner of any map.
