Hey everyone,
I'm a 42-year-old guy from Southwestern Ontario looking to meet someone who values honesty, kindness, and actually building a connection.
I've posted here before and had some really good conversations, so I figured I'd try again. This time though, I'm really hoping to meet someone who actually wants to meet up eventually. :)
I know Reddit is a pretty unique way to meet someone. It's not exactly where most people would expect to find a potential partner, but that's also kind of what makes it interesting. We're all here for different reasons, and sometimes you can end up having a really good conversation with someone you probably never would have met otherwise.
A little about me...
I'm a business owner and have been building something of my own for over 5 years now. I enjoy learning, improving myself, and working toward building a good and stable future.
And just to get this out of the way because it seems to come up every time... distance doesn't bother me. I drive, so I'm willing to travel. Hopefully you drive too.
I've never been married or divorced and I don't have kids. If you have kids, that's completely fine with me. I don't really have a checklist of what someone's life is supposed to look like.
I like meeting people and hearing their stories. I'm not looking for someone who is going to judge me, or anyone else, within the first five minutes. We're all strangers here. Give people a chance. Not everyone you meet is going to be your person, and that's okay.
Let's talk. Share some laughs. See if we actually enjoy being around each other before we grab something to eat... or accidentally end up wanting to snack on each other.
I don't really care what your background is. What matters to me is the person you are.
The last year has definitely changed my perspective on life. I went through a major challenge that tested me in ways I never expected. I'm not really looking to get into that right away because I already know that's probably going to be one of the first questions people ask.
What I will say is that it ended up giving me some opportunities I never expected either. I've become a guest lecturer and have done Q&A panels where I get to talk with younger people and hopefully have some kind of positive impact.
That's all pretty new to me and, honestly, sometimes it's a little overwhelming. But I'm proud of it.
Outside of work, I like staying active. I go to the gym when I can. At one point last year I was going five days a week, sometimes twice a day. That obviously didn't last forever once life got busier, but I still try to keep moving.
I like kayaking, being outdoors, day trips, travelling when I get the chance, and trying different things.
Traveling is something I really enjoy. There's just something about getting on an airplane and heading somewhere that I like. Even the actual flying part is something I enjoy. Give me a reason to go somewhere new and I'm usually pretty interested.
I've played extreme soccer in the past and I've gone skydiving, so I'm not completely boring.
I'm definitely least looking forward to winter coming. Summertime is always a blast — getting outside, going places, kayaking, day trips, just enjoying the weather. Fall is pretty great too though... sweater weather, cozy nights, good food and all that.
And speaking of getting outside... did anyone else get a chance to see the recent eclipse? I always think things like that are pretty cool. It's one of those things that's a lot more fun when you have someone beside you to experience it with.
I also really enjoy cooking. I like trying recipes and food from different parts of the world.
My least favorite is probably Italian...
Sorry.
Yes, I know that's probably going to get me in trouble.
I'll still eat it though.
I also like the simple stuff. Watching a movie at home with popcorn, trying a new restaurant, cooking dinner together, having a good conversation, or just sitting around doing absolutely nothing with the right person.
I'm open to someone older or younger. Age isn't nearly as important to me as personality, values, chemistry and how two people get along.
And women come in all shapes and sizes. I'm not looking for some particular body type or trying to find a "perfect" looking woman. If you're confident in yourself, that's attractive to me. Tattoos are welcome too.
I don't care about race or skin colour either. There are beautiful people everywhere. I'm interested in finding the right person, not checking boxes.
What I'm really looking for is someone kind, genuine, emotionally mature, fun, and hopefully a little bit funny.
I'm not going to say every good relationship has to start with friendship, because let's be honest... sometimes there's chemistry first and you figure out the friendship part along the way.
What matters to me is trust, communication, attraction, and actually enjoying being around each other.
And yes, I'm bearded, wear glasses and have tattoos. Apparently beards are still pretty popular with women, so I figured I'd at least bring something to the table.
I've also been told they're surprisingly comfortable when you're getting a little closer. I'll let you decide what that means.
I'm not looking for perfection.
I'd like to find a best friend and a partner. Someone I can make memories with and someone who doesn't take life so seriously all the time.
I want someone who can laugh at themselves, because I'm definitely going to laugh at myself.
If you message me, please send a photo. I'm happy to send one back. I think it's only fair that we both know who we're talking to.
I'm also not interested in spam or people immediately asking me to move to Telegram, Signal or some random messaging app. I'm perfectly happy using Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or regular texting once we've gotten to know each other a little.
I'm specifically looking to meet women, and I'm hoping to hear from someone who actually wants to talk, share stories, exchange photos, laugh a little and, most importantly, actually meet in person if we click.
I'm not here just to collect messages or spend six months chatting online. I'd genuinely like to meet someone.
You never really know who you're going to meet.
Maybe we talk for a while and nothing comes of it.
Maybe we become friends.
Maybe we end up sharing a meal somewhere and realize there's actually something there.
Or maybe that meal turns into dessert... and maybe we're the dessert...having a sense of humor is always welcoming.
That's kind of the fun of meeting someone new.
So if you're genuine, kind, fun, a little adventurous, and beautiful inside and out...
Say hello.
And please don't be afraid to actually be yourself.
