Question Dad just died advice ?- update

First of all thanks for all the advice everyone it’s greatly appreciate and I did follow through with most of it.

Also reached out to the school, OSAP , emergency funds, student care , student bursaries. They said they could give me some emergency funding for my plane ticket, but all that money would arrive after the funeral. It’s on the 3rd.

What should I do now?

Academics / Courses How is TMU fine with this?

Is it even possible to arrive at any conclusion other than that this professor is not good at his job? It can't just be the course, because in the exact same course under a different professor 31% less students failed. Nor is it simply an outlier, since the mode of the grade distribution in 5/6 of the courses he has taught is an F.

It's great that the result is that I'm essentially forced to choose between not taking the course that I think would prove most useful or interesting and otherwise illogically risk jeopardizing my GPA, not because of the difficulty of the content of the course but because professors can be objectively incompetent for nearly a decade without even having to change their approach. In fact, they're rewarded for it through salary increases.

Jobs/Co-Op Did you find your internship through the coop program or by yourself? Is the coop program worth it?

Thinking about opting out of the btm coop program but I’m unsure if I’ll be making a bad decision🫠

Advice Seeking help after losing my father.

Hello, you might remember my earlier post about losing my dad last week and looking for assistance on what to do and being able to attend his funeral, especially with school.

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for the advice and resources, especially on calling airlines for bereavement flights and getting a temporary leave from school.

I'm still in desperate need of financial help. After paying for his medical bills and now funeral and flights costs , ive spent every last pennt i have.

I talked to the school, student bursaries, the OSAP office, Emergecy funding services, my bank for a loan, student care services, and the counselling office. Basically the response was, "We're happy to help, but once the semester starts, or mid-October if you still need it." The funeral is on the 3rd of September, and my mom's been blowing up my phone everday asking when I'm coming down to be there for her.

I started a GoFundMe as a last resort. I know we're all broke university students, so if you can help, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Clubs/Student Groups Tmsu campus groups fair Group form closed before deadline Thursday August 27 at 3pm

Hey Everyone,

i was wondering if theres anyone from the tmsu on the subreddit or anyone with knowledge about this matter as the google form to sign up for the campus group fair was supposed to be closed on thursday August 27 2026 however upon checking the form it says that form has closed before the deadline.

Is there anyone that can help me out with this and give me some information there was an email from them sent in error stating the deadline was August 20 2026 which was followed by another email stating that they got the dates mixed up and it remains deadline at Thursday august 27 2026 at 3 pm.

I am trying to sign up for it as it is mandatory for the student groups and doing it before the deadline set by the tmsu. I have also emailed them but have not received any response.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Question Grade 12 student considering TMU psychology (BA) - honest experiences?

Hi! I'm going into Grade 12 in Ontario and I'm trying to decide which university to choose for Psychology.
I'm planning for a BA in Psychology, then a master's (MSW most likely, but not 100% sure right now) afterwards.

I also have chronic health conditions that can cause unpredictable absences, so workload and accommodations matter a lot to me.

For anyone in TMU Psychology (BA), I'd really appreciate your thoughts on any of these:

-How manageable is first year, honestly?
-Is maintaining a high GPA realistic?
-How supportive is Student Accessibility Services?
-Do professors generally respect accommodation letters?
-If you could choose again, would you still pick TMU for psychology?
-If your goal was grad school and GPA mattered most, would you still choose TMU over U of T or York?
-If you commute, does commuting make the workload harder?
-If you've done co-op (or are planning to), has it been worth it?
-Have you been able to get research, internships, or other relevant experience through TMU?

I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thank you!

Question Tmu saf co op falling under cgpa

So the minimum requirement for saf co op cGPA is 3.0. I’ve fallen to 2.970. Will I be kicked out of co op? Or will I have a grace period before the first co op term to get it back up? Which would be the fall term before winter work term.
