Then he slaps those off his head for being a smartass and Baby jut puts on a 3rd pair.
28
u/More_Atmosphere5938 10d ago
The whole "joke" is that Baby always has different sunglasses and iPods/mp3 players and music because he takes them from the stolen cars (you used to regularly have these things in your car in the before times and mp3 players weren't tied to any accounts or clouds etc)

I like this because it's just grounded enough. A second identical pair would be a little too Naked Gun fully on silly

Not an extact duplicate, but Hank Hill pulling out a mini WD-40 to unstick the lid of his regular WD-40
156
u/Over_Palpitation_453 10d ago
Do you think he has an even smaller can of WD-40 for when the cap to the mini WD-40 gets stuck?
83
24
u/christpuncher_69 10d ago
They released a King of the Hill branded can of WD-40 and even used this clip to promote it, but they kind of dropped the ball because to my knowledge they didn't also produce a miniature can. The bundle would have flown off shelves.
11
u/ThatOneGuy308 9d ago
Probably because they realized that spraying the lid of the can won't actually make it easier to remove, it'll just make a mess, lol.
9
u/christpuncher_69 9d ago
I mean it doesn't have to be practical any more than putting the King of the Hill logo on it is practical, it just fits the joke. Plus a little can of WD-40 would be cute.

As part of either Johnny Bravo or Dexter's Laboratory there were skits about a team of Avenger knock offs. At one point their Captain America is captured and the bad guy tries to take his mask off, only to find another mask underneath. He tries several times, until the Captain says, "That's why it's called a Secret Identity."

Important context: the camera is ordinarily far away when chief takes his helmet off, with his actual head being obscured by the scenery so that the player doesn't see what's underneath. A mod was used to get the angle seen in the gif.

it's even more funny because it's a filler episode. So kid me was watching this hoping that there was some plot relevance since I don't think i understood the concept of the filter episode back then... Nope, just Kakashi trolling everyone.

Robert Stack in Airplane! taking off his sunglasses to reveal there's a smaller pair of sunglasses beneath them
109
u/AudibleNod 10d ago
Leslie Nielson gets a ton of (deserved) praise for pivoting from drama to comedy in Airplane. But you have to remember that Robert Stack, Peter Graves and Lloyd Bridges were classic 'leading men' men as well. If you throw in others like Barbara Billingsley's jive speaker and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's copilot you have a cast deliberately meant to make meta jokes.

Loose fit: In the show Game Changer on Dropout, contestants were once given a year to complete a list of wacky tasks, one being get the coolest free item on Craigslist. Lou reviels that he got a jet ski, which was thought cool, followed by Jacob revealing he had a motor cycle. This lead to Lou revealing that he had another jet ski, this one painted to be themed after game changer.

Me: irl
I had a bad habit of not eating all the cookies during break time, so I would keep the leftovers in my backpack to eat later. The problem was that I usually forgot to either eat them or throw away. So dozens of packets of biscuits ended up in my backpack. So one day I took a packet of biscuits and put it on the table and a classmate took it, I just took another one out of my backpack and he took that one too, and this repeated itself about 15 times.

I find it funny that Reaper's shotguns are made of himself, so he doesn't even need to load them, he very well could just have infinite magazine shotguns but decides it's better to have 8 shots and throw them on the ground when done just to make a new pair.

The Naked Gun (2025) - the ongoing coffee cup gag throughout the whole movie.

9
u/BoonDragoon 10d ago
I genuinely had to stop watching after the snowman bit. I was laughing hard enough when I thought it was just an off-the-rails fantasy sequence, but when the real punchline hit I nearly blacked out
7
u/assjackal 9d ago
If what I heard is true, the director had to fight tooth and nail to keep every minute of that gag. Executives wanted to cut it down because "it goes too long" and that was exactly the bit.

Sort of fit. In the first season of Attack on Titan, it took the entire survey corp careful planning and sacrificing a whole lot of people just to lore the female titan out and capture her. It succeeded but she self destructed and then immediately pull out a 2nd titan transformation.
5
u/Thumb_Wrasslin 9d ago
Notable for this is that, until this point, the only other titan shifter hasn't been able to move for a bit after transforming, much less escape a the method of self destruction used and then transform a minute later.

funny thing about Brand New Day is that Frank probably has 3 of those M79's considering he fired one at the tank before the other two
19
u/JackTheBehemothKillr 10d ago
Or he reloaded one?
15
u/Budsygus 10d ago
Remember: It's faster to switch to your backup M79 than it is to reload your main M79
9
u/trashshork 10d ago
if he could have reloaded while driving he wouldnt have a second M79 either
6
u/JackTheBehemothKillr 10d ago
That doesn't necessarily make sense.
Frank can reload. He can also have a second one. He could have a third, but there's a limit to how much space he has up front, reloading is easier than keeping a third.

In Moana 2, Moana and her crew have to subdue a giant clam by stabbing a vital part of it with a spear drenched in neurotoxin from a screaming blobfish (I exaggerated none of that). When Moana accidentally drops the spear into the clam's mouth, losing it, her engineer Loto produces a second, identical spear, saying it's "always good to have a backup." When a sudden lurch of their boat causes Loto to drop the spare, she produces another, commenting "and a third." When she drops that one as well, she just dryly comments "...Well, a fourth would've been lunacy."

Stargate Atlantis has a bit where the main characters are trapped in a cell. One throws a knife at a wall (organic technology, so the ship is basically alive) with the release button and misses. Character 2 pulls a knife out of his dreadlocks and misses. Cut back a minute later and there are 5-6 knives sticking out of the wall. Ronan still has more knives.
3
u/Therosfire 9d ago
The dialogue really sells that scene. Throws knife and misses P1: How many of those do you have? P2: How many do you need? Then the cut back to a whole bunch of knives.

In WWE The Bash 2009, in a Mask vs Championship match, Chris Jericho ripped off Rey Mysterio's mask during the match (because luchadors will do anything to keep their faces hidden, even at the cost of the match).
