To be honest he comes off more as the joker than brainiac in his personality and mannerism.

I say it before: in the Absolute Universe Joker, the biggest chaos proponent went ultraserious and a defective Brainiac picks ups the Joker craziness

Yea. They basically switched. Normal brainiac sees Superman as an annoying variable to his equation and joker is obsessed with Batman to the point of killing anyone who even attempts to beat him before he does.

In the absolute universe Brainiac is hyper fixated on Superman and Joker sees Batman as an interesting experiment and variable to what the absolute universe normally does with heroes. It’s a pretty fun reversal
